Lucky escape!

Took the bikes out on the rack for the first time yesterday. Spent a total of about two hours setting it up right, so it wouldn't damage the car, load it up and set off happily enough. Go over speed bump, and the whole thing collapses! The teeth that hold the support arms at the correct angle had given way, at which point gravity took over

Fortunately, the only damage was the rear wash wipe nozzle and cover thing, which I was able to push / glue / clip back together, and a nasty scratch on the boot lid (but the whole car's due a session with the touch-up kit anyway so I'm not too fussed!)

Just relieved at how much worse it could have been - dread to think what could have happened if it had collapsed as we were heading over the Snake Pass... :(

Best one I ever saw like that was a Toyota (cant't remember which model) that had the glass style tailgate. The top clips had pulled so hard on the glass that it had shattered.

I managed to do that with my mums Citroen AX, shortly after passing my driving test!
