Those pesky french rats! Will need to keep an eye on that one then, when we're in our camping field in the Dordogne next month

Thanks for the heads up. I only come to the Yeti section so wouldn't have seen it.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine had lots of his wiring chewed through, none Skoda. It cost a small fortune to sort out and weeks of of calls out as wiring failed. This was in the UK, but he did live near a farm.

I was interested to see this as until recently I had a Volvo where I had exactly the same problem - I have lived in this house (in Hampshire so it's not peculiar to French rats!!) next to allotments and a stream for more than 25 years so controlling rats is an ongoing problem but this was the first time it had ever happened to me. I was alerted to it by a smell of diesel and fortunately the car was already booked in for a service. I was given the same explanation - that something in the rubber was attractive to rodents but it wasn't a warranty fault so "That will be a wad of cash please sir". I've just changed the Volvo for my now month old Yeti so the post has put me in full panic mode! I agree with the comment on the Fabia forum - if manufacturers know this particular formulation of rubber is attractive to rodents then surely it make sense to use a different formulation? Or is it such a rare and unusual occurrence that, rather than change the rubber if it ever occurs changing the hoses under warranty/goodwill wouldn't make a dent the profits?
