Proper fast...

Featured Replies

Most of our cars are brisk, some quite rapid indeed (see what I did there?), but "proper fast" is a different world...

I just got a passenger ride in a proper fast motor driven by an engineer test-driving post repair. 993 Turbo 4, upgraded to GT2 spec putting out in the region of 550 bhp. I've been in some fast stuff before but this thing was brutal. It's the sort of accelleration that provokes involutary expletives. It sounded (and indeed went) like a frickin rocket when the twin turbos fully kicked in above 4000 rpm. Stunning.

I don't know what the point of the thread is, but it was a breathtaking few minutes and I wanted to share.

On the off-chance the owner comes across this post and recognises the car I'm talking about, the trip was legit and necessary and the driver showed massive restraint. There were numerous times I would have thought it was "safe enough" to overtake or have a quick stab on the gas, but he was obviously (and rightly so) deadly serious about the implications of having so much grunt under his right foot...

I've been in a 500BHP Supra. That thing throws your head back and takes you to 62 in something like 4.5 seconds.

I've also been in a 611BHP Porsche 911 Gemballa. 0-62 in about 3.9 seconds. God damn.

Not experienced anything 'seriously' quick yet - but just watching a RUF turbo 993 at POD was enough to make my giggle like a little girl - truly awesome cars, and seriously jealous you had the opportunity to experience spleen rupturing power !

Had the pleasure of being a passenger in a work colleagues TVR Griffith. Probably not as quick as the Porsches, but the sound............mmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Actually, I wouldnt be surprised if a Griffith can keep pace with (and maybe even exceed) most Porsches. Very quick for sure.

A TVR Cerbera raced a load of supercars on some Jeremy Clarkson program once, things like Caterhams, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Porsche 911, Ferrari's, Astons etc... and the TVR basically destroyed them all.

Been a passenger in a FQ300 :D

I once had a ride in an S2000 engined Westfield. I've never experienced acceleration like it since. It also went very sideways around corners, which was nice...

Very nice :D

My neighbours Aston Martin DB7 is about the fastest I've been in...

Boy that thing can shift, always come out with a :D

went out in my m8's dads last thursday...... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D still grinning!

Fastest car i've been in is my mates chipped Ibiza FR. Thats pretty quick, but hardly mind blowing. About as quick as a chipped Octy vRS I'd imagine.

Fastest thing I've been in...............Concord

I had a go in a Fabia the other day...Nuff Sed!!! ;)

Ive driven a SL55 AMG.... that was f**kin quick!

Nuff said..........now there's a saying I haven't heard in a long while

Went out in a friends jcb last week, that thing can really shift..

Awesome bucket size an all.

All the best Jay Ivey..

ps. Really enjoyed taking the combi around the ring a couple of weeks ago and meeting a few people from here..

We talking fast or quick?

Quick, it'd have to be the twin engined Tiger with NoS  With the NoS on, about 1100bhp/ton :D

Fast, well that'd be the Ruff that I was kindly allowed to drive round the Ring (having overtaken it earlier in my old 1.4 Octy). Had a couple of laps in that, OMFG, I want one :D

For the road though, it'd have to be the MTM RS6+ that I was lent for a couple of hours, far less scarey the Chimera, especially as it was raining at the time :D

my cousin had a skyline that had all kinds of madness under the bonnet, he overtook someone while i was in the car and i could of sworn there was something coming towards us, i felt ill for a while afterwards, that was up around the 600-700 BHP and the 0-60 was under 4 secs, he has more money than sense.
