Maxxis maz1's

Featured Replies

2 new tyres required!

In 225/45/17

Read a wee bit on these maxxis maz1's but im sceptical

Usually go for either toyo's / falkens / kumho's! But do i take a chance on the maxxis or is it a downgrade? Haven't used them before

Sharkrider likes em'

Yeah but he also likes nankang winter tyres! And i seen that thing trying to put power down on a rr day :o

Not bad at all!!

Just loud ;)

I had to chase him home ;)

So they are loud? :o

Just turn the music up :)

They're on the front of the mongrel.  Yet, to be properly tried, but they are good!

Right so guess i'll be having a try of them!

My local tyre fitter is a wind up merchant, he does sidecar racing and trys anything to get me to buy his tyres. So he'll be gutted when i show up with these, will no doubt tell me they are rubbish

Trying to remember where I got mine from but they were something like £135 delivered for a pair in 215/40 R17, after finding a little discount code courtesy of google.

found it in my inbox - tyretraders.com - £136.61 all-in

Thats £131 with a discount code

Or £139 from ebay! Every pound counts so tyre traders it is :)

85 a corner fitted from e-tyres

Thats 170 brick

If i get them for 131 then fitting at a tenner each (tops) still saving 20 squid :)

Fair play...

It was convenient for me so paid the bit extra

I have a good arrangement @ £5 a corner with my local tyre fitter, as long as I take the wheels up loose, which ain't a problem usually.

Can't argue at that... All the decent tyre fitters round here have gone :/

awsome tyres :) I'm converting people lol! there are better tyres out there, but no better "bang for buck" ... only problem I've found (as mentioned) is they are noisy....

Had these on my ZR and couldn't fault them. For a big heavy lump they certainly grip well

Day

27c here today, and been blasting around in the vRS, and I have to say, it really is AWSOME when these tyres are used on a hot dry day, they come alive with the heat, and grip like glue!

  • 2 weeks later...

Went completely against the fold and went for a set of lassa phenoma's on the recommendation from my local tyre fitter friend!

Says he's had glowing report from them, they are apparently a bridgestone!

Guess time will tell - they were actually dearer than the maxxis and are much the same idea, almost a track / dry weather tyre

Yeah i seen that, only 4 reviews and can't seem to find much online about them

I always regarded lassa as chinese ditch finders but seems they have made these tyres alongside bridgestone to try and get into the performance sector!

They don't look trash and at £160 nicker they weren't all that cheap!

Time will tell i'll give them a good blast!

The kumho's that were on it just made it passed the 7k mile mark :o

Oooops!

Plus they come with flames on!!

Lol

Initial reports

Ride

Harsher ride than the previous kumho hm's, but suppose thats due to the new tyre being an XL

Dry Grip

Better grip in the dry than the old kumho's, the kumho's did grip well but when pushed hard they do like to squeel when on the limit, the lassa's limit seems to be greater than the kumho's, cannot get them to squeel when on my limit

Wet weather grip

To be continued.....

have you had the rain yet ? :)

Rained this morning but has dried up now!

In work van so havent tried, ment to be miserable from wed onwards, so if i reply to this post then they work in the wet

If i dont reply please assume i have had an RTA in the wet and im dead
