Iron-X - decontamination wonder!

Featured Replies

Got some recently and thought I would try it on the mongrel's nearside as I could feel and see what looked like brake dust particles in the paint.

Worked well!

This was seconds after spraying it on

Then about 90 seconds later, proper starting to run out.  All spots gone!    Just need a wash off at the end, nothing else

The left front wheel also felt a bit pitted with brake dust after it was washed, so sprayed some on that too - got loads off!

I'll be buying more of this Iron-X when its run out (other similarly priced de-iron'ers are available)

Seconded..! Tried this for the first time this weekend, amazing stuff..

I love this stuff! Does it still smell like rotten eggs?!

Looks like it works a treat. Expensive??

I find it quite expensive, my 500mls didn't really last that long. Its good stuff though.

I admit I spread it fairly thinly - I would think with enough care you could do every surface on about 4 cars with a 500ml bottle.  So far I've only done the mongrel once (only the sides and rear), and then the nearside more recently again.  Bottle still feels very full indeed.

I did all 4 wheels and the sides spraying quite liberally and I've still got about 2 thirds of a 500ml bottle left.

According to the bottle Its a cherry smell.. You know, like them special cherries that smell of toxic waste..

LOL :D  It sure ain't the smell of cherries!

looks awesome I might invest in some,

Anyone used the auto finesse and valet pro iron decontamination??

Or is the carpro iron-x the best? :)

Suspect they are all the same to be honest.

You can use this on alloy wheels though as its a non acidic detergent based cleaner, not acidic like wonder wheels.

Good good, getting my freshly powdercoated alloys back tomorrow so don't want them pitting and getting stained by brake dust. Will be purchasing some for the future :)

Washing gets most fresh brake dust off. It's more the actual particles which are useful with the iron-X type stuff.  Won't need doing often at all.

yeah definitely, use some on the actual panels too ;)

If you haven't thought of this already I'd treat them with a wheel sealer before I put them back on. Gtechnik do some good nano techno stuff apparently, personally I use angelwax bilberry wheel wax, though there's loads of alternatives out there. Angelwax's is supposed to last 6 months and the wheels are still beading 2 months after I did them.

Yeah I'm all over that :) going to put a few layers of collinite on.

I got some of this now, not tried it yet. Similar price.

"True dedicated Dual action fallout remover. Trix has been manufactured with the same strength of ingredients as its predecessors. Iron X & Tar X. But now combined to work as a dual action fallout remover. Saving precious time and products."

I've tried the Iron-X and the Trix from Carpro. Iron-X is very good for removing contamination from all over the vehicle for that big detailed cleans, though often it was used on the wheels alone. The Trix was a great let down, it's tar remover and iron remover in one, though often I'd only need one or the other so if using to remove tar, your wasting the iron removing properties and needs to be kept shaken as it tends to seperate after a few squirts. Tar-X and Iron-X are far better than just using the Trix alone. I still use Iron-X but found Bilt Hamber Autowheels to be a truely fantastic product. Spray onto the wheel and by the time you've made it round the vehicle and sprayed it onto all four, it's time to pressure wash off. Wheel cleaner and iron remover in one. No agitation needed (unless heavy build up), saving time from wheel cleaner, dwell, agitate, rinse, Iron-X, dwell, agitate and rinse.

For me...the best I've used is..in order:

1. Bilt Hamber Auto wheel

2. Iron X

3. Purple rain

4. Turtle wax Ice

5. Wonder Wheels equivalent

Auto finesse iron out is also very and seems to react a bit quicker too IMO

Will iron x shift paint overspray.

Some good reviews on the iron x here, think il get some, give it a go. Cheers guys.

It's good stuff.

I use Carchem's Revolt but its all a similar formula I think.

They all smell pretty grim too......

No, as I don't think paint is metal based.  Tardis might loosen it a bit, but ultimately a good claying is what is needed to remove oevrspray, or a bit of gentle wet sanding and a polish.
