Anyone used these mobile aircon regassing people?

Featured Replies

Has anyone used these for an aircon regass?

They seem to do the full service rather than just top up á la Kwik 5hit and Halfrauds. They're also doing the free anti-bacterial thing at the moment.

I've noticed the aircon isn't as cold as it should be so probably needs doing.

Any recommendations in Chingford/Walthamstow area?

Cheers

How much are they charging?

Re-gas (sic) single car London £49.99 (plus additional charge if inside congestion zone). £59.99 if Home Counties. One single application of antibacterial spray £20 - but currently free if you quote: FREE web offer.

'We Chill Any Car. Com have a £40.00 fixed call out charge should a post A/C service leak check be required using our UV detection kit, this shall be explained during the initial service by the appointed technician.'

(The above info is from their website).

I got my last bacterial AC treatment from Eurocarparts - cost around £2.50 IIRC.

How much are they charging?

The whole system with any luck!!

Now, where did I put my coat..........

So that's £89 (callout + regas)?

Our Skoda dealer charges less than that for the full on AC service! So I'd suggest thats not cheap!

One of the outfits near us, charges £20 for the anti-bac treatment, with a full re-gas/service for £40, I noted this yesterday when in for MOT and service.

Given the service so far,  they'll be tasked to re-gas on the Mondeo (when required, 57 plate) and Disco (once I've paid them to replace the compressor!).

So are we saying steer clear? I guess there's a risk they could do the service and then suggest they have to come back and check for leaks at £40, but you wouldn't be obliged to use them?

Gwilo, are you saying this is the same company and they've given you good service?

Ta

Not the same company as yours, but a garage local to me. Sorry if that wasn't entirely clear.

Hang on, they shouldn't regas it if there is a leak?

So, they regas a system they know is leaking

Then when a month later it has stopped working they charge you to come out and tell you there is a leak.

Sounds dodgy to me......

You sure that £40 isn't just a case of if we come out and find a leak, so can't recharge it, then there is a £40 call out fee for coming to you and telling you this.

That's not that unreasonable.

As with most trades I read it that the callout is always due and services taken are in addition to this.

I read it as if you have to call them out after the regas for a leak test they charge you £40 for the privilege even though they shouldn't regas a leaking system in the first place.

I may be being cynical though....
