Evening all, I hope you have all enjoyed the sunshine today.

As many of you potential tuners know piper have 2 different options for the Fabia and choosing to go for the 1 silencer and zero silencer has come up many times.

As some of you know I currently have the turbo back 1 silencer and decat, but this morning I received the zero silencer back box replacement.

My aim is to do a comprehensive comparison of them both. They will be on the same car and filmed with the same camera. I may also get a decibel app to try and make comparisons.

Now in order to make it as comprehensive as possible what do you want in the videos? I will make it as fair as possible in terms of roads driven and manner of driving

Any input will be greatly appreciated and I will update soon with videos

Maybe you should try and get a farmer to rev his tractor up and record that.

 

You could then use that as the comparison

Parked revving, drive by plodding along at normal revs and then as stated drive it like you stole it drive by.

Whats a hard limiter? Mine sounds amazing proper bounces pop pop pop pop pop pop pop. Havent done anything to make it do that though

what's a hard limiter joe? I've got launch control mapped in, holds it at 2.5k and that bounces and pops a bit

Unsure to be honest just heard one on a car my mapper done and it sounds great. I think its something to do with either torque limit or fuel cut off im not to clued up on the in depth mapping but its ment to be a pretty simple thing to do. Its similar to the static 2.5 limiter I assume wich I think is down to torque settings below a set speed. Someone jump in and correct me though please.

Google hard cut rev limiter. They are quite popular with OMEX.

Joe is right they are similar to the rev limiters. Have a YouTube of the OMEX rev limiters fitted to a few petrols. They make some nice pop and bang noises

I've heard a piper, in some scenarios they sound good/Ok just idling and tootling around town they sound **** :(

Car looks so good driving back down the road. You can definitely tell the difference in the two. The one box does sound alot better on tick over though but you cant beat the 0 system when you open it up and thats why I love mine. Even with a standard exhaust they sound terrible on tick over and ploding around so it doesn't bother me so atleast it put a smile on my face in one way when it comes to exhaust sound now.

Yes it does sound better on tick over, but for the most part I'm never outside when I start the car. When plodding along its still quiet, but when opening the taps it's just amazing, it has an amazing bark. It has a huge grin factor.

I'll report back after some more testing

So first part has the silencer and second part doesn't?

I preferred the first bit tbh. Sounded nice and quiet. Second was too noisy and sounded a bit tinny.
