Would this work?

Featured Replies

Yes, I have the same one.

I fitted 1 of these to my Blaupunkt unit just a few weeks ago. levels are a bit quieter than the CD and radio, but other than that works perfectly.

Makes me wonder why people use the "connect 2" or whatever there called...

What benefits would a connect 2 have over this direct lead?

Thank you! Going to place the order now! :)

On the Symphony CD, the lead in the OP's link will NOT! work. The Xcarlink, Connects2 and Yatour type boxes communicate with the Symphony in the same way as the OEM CD Changer. Without that communication, the Symphony won't know there's anything attached.

I think you have to ground one of the pins to let the stereo know something is connected. I had to do that on my Cordoba with Seat Alana HU. Used this same cable.

Oh dear, now I'm confused. I've already ordered this part. Do you have a link to what would be suitable for the symphony?

So this cable might not work initially, but if I ground one of the pins then it might?

How would I go about that?

Thanks

You need to earth pin 14 on the aux connector. So basically stick a wire into pin 14 so that when you insert the connector it makes contact with pin 14 and no others then attach the other end to the metal body of the stereo to earth it.

Almost 100% certain it's the same pin layout as the Alana HU I had in my Cordoba.

I'll be posting my results! Fingers crossed for good ones.

Much happier spending £6.00 rather than about £40.00

If this AUX lead doesnt work, even with a little tweaking, then I'll just stick in my aftermarket head unit. I would prefer to keep it OEM as i think it looks better :)

OR If I cant stand looking at the aftermarket unit, then I'll go old school and burn some CD's.

I haven't read all the comments, just the one quoting me saying it won't work.

I have that exact lead going Into the back of my symphony CD player head unit and it works no problem.

Edit: read all the comments and I haven't had to ground out any other pins, a few other members have that cable as well, they recommended it to me. I'll search later when I'm not on my phone

thank god coz I ordered one as soon as you said it would work

! Lol

Can I jump in and ask whether there's a cable I could use to have a sub with the standard stereo?

I have also just ordered this item on Amazon as opposed to the costly connects2, will report back with my results when it arrives!

I bought mine off Amazon and was a little wary as some of the comments said it didn't work, others said it needed pin positions changing. For six quid though I took a punt. As I posted earlier, my Fabby has a Blaupunkt CD 34 head unit fitted, the cable fitted straight in, no need to change any pins around or earth it, just plug and play. It is to be noted on the Blaupunkt unit that you have to go into the options menu and enable Aux in, so that it's available.

Thanks for the info - I'll be sue to do this.

Just waiting for mine to arrive, hopefully today or tomorrow.

Very interested to hear the results as bug jam is around the corner and its a canny trek from Sunderland haha

I've just received this in the post today, plugged it straight in to where the cd changer would go and earthed I to the back if the HU and it started smoking, smelt as if something was burning, anyone any ideas? Lol
