Bluetooth........

Featured Replies

I picked up my 2012 VRS yesterday and tried to connect phone to the bolero unit..:(

Took it straight back to dealer and gave them the keys and said money back or sort it please, nicely of course.

It is in this week getting a brand new kenwood-dnx-521 unit fitted free of charge :-)

So happy days and thanks to a fantastic effort by the main dealer.

Could not believe a supposed top of the range has no Bluetooth, it was that much of a deal breaker for me.

Personally I think you're bloody lucky myself; the vRS doesnt come with standard Bluetooth in the UK so debatably you probably should have done your homework and made sure it was fitted before committing financially, wouldnt have thought the dealer is in any way obliged to fit something for you for free...unless of course they insisted it was fitted and mislead you. Good result all the same.

That said my Dad bought an A5 sportback a while back and the thing had about 6k of spec on it, talking memory electric heated seats, folding dimming mirrors, advanced parking system with rear view camera, HDD MMI sat nav, interior light pack, 19" wheels......gets it home to find pretty much the only thing not spec'd on it is Bluetooth! More of a travesty on a 34k list Audi I would suggest!

Hi I have a 62reg vrs and it would seem I do not have the maxidot display (i.e no door openings picture) is this a requirement for oem retrofit bluetooth or will it still work with my bolero?

I would like to add and ask can the display on a normal vrs fl 2010 octavia be updated by a computer mod.....

The Kenwood unit is superb. Have had mine for a few months now and love it. It's got a huge amount of features (bluetooth, DAB radio, ipod/USB compatability, sat nav) and it sounds fantastic - so, so much better than the Columbus/Bolero units. It also looks OEM as it's designed for VAG cars.

It is expensive, but for me, it's worth it.

Quality is never cheap...... :drunk:

MazVrstfsi - sounds like you are in the same boat as me.  Bolero, April 2010 octavia, no MFSW or maxidot.  My research tells me best route to go is a bluetooth retro fit kit for current bolero which will give phone control and music streaming through bolero unit (but not voice control) ....OR.... replace bolero unit with Amunsden+ (RNS315) unit which has satnav and BT built into it.  Second option is much more expensive though.

I reckon a BT retro fit kit is the way forward.  I emailed car systems and they said this would do the job.  You would then need to fit or get someone to fit for you...and maybe some coding, but people on here say it can be straight forward (but don't ask me!)

So are you going to take the plunge and buy that kit then? You go first and I'll follow! Ha.

Ha!  Well, I'm not so worried now about the part being wrong, it's the installation and subsequent coding I'm really worried about.

What we need are some excellent step-by-step instructions.

I'm sure there must be some on this forum somewhere....?

ps. I found these which are all the same and what we need btw

part number 7P6035730K, like the following links:

€200 euros

£299

£191

One thing I noticed when buying mine was that it was cheaper to buy the cable/mic and the module separate.

This cable covers the Bolero (RNS-310, I think) and has a mic supplied. eBay item 300708558266 (copy and paste that number into the search bar on eBay).

Then choose a module to suit your phone and car (most recent modules should be fine).

These from CarSystems.pl work with Bolero, but no mention of voice control...

If you drive over to Bromyard, I'll help you fit & code (although I don't have a Windows laptop at the moment).

I saw a 5k0 035 730 d module on ebay for 99 quid earlier. Does hfp for calls (not rsap for texts, but why would you need that?) and bt streaming. It works with all phones and while it does not integrate with pre fl maxidot, it does with fl and even on pre fl it is fine in conjunction with the headunit.

I know this because I have one not because I am anything to do with the sale!!!

Or try this: http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product∏=409&menu=Škoda%7COctavia%20II%28A5%29%20facelift

£445 + delivery.

With mic & BT (why else would you need a mic?) & sat nav & GPS and genuine new stock.

And should be able to activate voice control as well...

I'd just check that 'Europe' maps still includes the UK...

Is that for real?!  Surely that's too good to be true?  BTW do Amundsen's just fit straight into bolero space, i.e. no change to trim etc..?

I spoke to a guy from hazzydayz earlier today, he thought voice control would never be an option if you didn't have a MFSW or dash. Not sure if others can confirm this or not?

His quote was also expensive (£375+vat for BT retro fit to bolero, £850+vat for refurbed Columbus supply & fit...then BT kit on top with a bit of a discount), but sounded like he knew what he was doing

I've purchased from Skodateile before and would recommend them to Briskodians.

Ales takes payment in limited ways, but I found that the Post Office will do transfers to other currencies (over £250) for free via their website.

I'd drop him and email (don't use the one on his website as that never seems to get and answer) and ask about the BT capabilities for the ones he has. Tell him what car you have and what you want it to do and he will advise.

I've just been looking at the user manual for the Fabia Amundsen+ and it looks like a decent unit.

Smaller screen than the Columbus (but still integrates with Maxidot) and no hard drive (but with 32Gb SD cards being cheap enough, that is not really an argument anymore) but it might have BT built in which must be a bonus as there is limited wiring needed to retrofit - only the mic up the A-pillar.
