Bluetooth........

Featured Replies

I'm certain the title will tell you everything.... I have the Belgado radio in my Octavia and though one night after purchasing it i would try and connect via the bluetooth.....Well what a tit i felt.....after reading several posts and doing my own investigation....low and behold no bluetooth module in the car.....now i felt like a right berk for even trying.... :wall:

So now the question is does anyone know the cost of getting a VAG bluetooth or an aftermarket bluetooth.....2010 plate octavia....

Do you mean Bolero?

Thats the one.....

I use a 'Bluetooth buddy' clips onto sun visor works as well as built in bluetooth long battery life. About £45.00 I think.

Cost me about £130 for the loom, Mic and module. Then got mike Holroyd to fit and code it with vcds for me. Works really good better than the parrot I had in my works van.

Ok cool Derv....where did you get your from..... I heard of all sorts of after market stuff but never really saw many reviews....

I have the original bluetooth module in my car (factory fitted), its well worth doing with this kit, as it opens up the radio unit to its full potential, its not just the hands free telephone, its the audio streaming etc as well, if you can get the equipment to get it done then its a worthy upgrade, have you got the MFSW and maxidot as well?  If so, then its great!

Not sure.....how can i find out if i have one of those....

Multifunction steering thats obvious, maxi dot, you have that if you get a pic of the doors opening on your display in the dash when you open and close the car doors :-)

Neither........hence the reason why i haven't got one....:(

I've had the Parrot kit installed in mine....it cost about £150 but it was money well spent, the screen is in the top dash cubbyhole with the rest of the wiring run down to the ashtray so other than the little answer toggle button the kit is invisible.

Interesting....will have to look into that and see what they offer....

I've put a deposit down on a 2011 VRS manual with Maxi Dot. I'm really keen to know what to do about the bluetooth. I'd mostly be using it to stream music from my iphone and make the odd phone call. At the moment I use a Belkin aircast. One end plugs into the aux, another bit into the power socket. Then you have this little button that doubles up as a microphone. You hold it down and tell Siri to play stuff or make a call.

The voice recognition bit is more favourable to me than messing about with navigating menus when driving. With this is mind is it best to stick with what I've got, get a Parrot, get a Fiscon or get an (official?) bluetooth module from Skoda?

The Skoda route sound like something to go for.....might look into one from a write off....also may look at the fiscon....

Do you know if the Skoda option has any kind of voice control function?

E.g I say "play music by Daft Punk" and it cracks on with it.

I say "call the wife at work" and it just does it.

This is pretty much what I'm doing at the moment. As long as there's a network connection as Siri on the iPhone can't cope if there isn't! My wife's Evoque has voice control but it's not very good in comparison. Neither of the above commands would work. You basically tell it to navigate through menus which is a somewhat laborious process!

Not really sure......maybe somebody else may know or has that option on there vehicle....

It would be good to find out so I can go for the best option for me. I do know that the Parrot has the ability to do decent voice control. The Skoda OEM is a big mystery to me!

Bury Handsfree kit bought of Wardy ( top bloke )

Less than £ 70,    Sorted

Ah ha! Must find out more. I think you've mentioned this option before. Looks similar to the Parrot solution. But possibly less cash..

Bury CC9068 is a very good 3rd party kit. However if you have a Bolero an OEM unit or Fiscon + really is the way to go to alleviate additional control panels and wiring.

As above, both OEM or fiscon options work great with the bolero and you don't need extra kit glued to the dash.

Ref voice control - you get this with some of the later Columbus (nav) head units but not Bolero. My retro-fit columbus support this and if I had the factory mic in place it would be working.. but i already had a fiscon (ie non-factory mic) plus I've never been a huge fan of voice control hence why I haven't bothered to get this working.

So if you were to pick one would it be the OEM or the Fiscon? eBay appear to have the OEM bits for roughly £160. The Fiscon is circa £300.

OEM.
