Electric tailgate release button on Centre Console

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I have a Superb II 2010 model. Unfortuanately in the Indian Version there is not Electric tailgate release button on the Centre Console. It is not available as an optional feature either.

Is it possible to retrofit this button and related wiring/electronics ?

Thanks

Hi Friend. Not sure there is such a button available on European models either.......

So how do you open the boot from inside. Here we need to open the boot at Malls, Hotels etc for security checks. Here most cars have a button or lever in the cabin near the driver to release/open the boot. Was suprised to see this was not there in the Superb.

In the manual there is a button for opening the boot on the centre console but for the Combi model. Also noticed in the post http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/281221-centre-console-spare-switch-button/ the same.

Here the only option to open the boot are

- Using the boot door button below the boot door. But this requires me to unlock all doors.

- using the middle button of the remote. But this will not work if the ignition is on (as per manual). So this mean i have to switch off the ignition and open the boot.

Any other options ?/

I think the reference in the manual (and previous post) is to Combi versions fitted with an electrically opening and closing tailgate. In the twin-door, the boot-release button activates a solenoid that undoes the latch - the boot then opens due to the pressurised gas struts. If it were possible to access the relay that energises this solenoid, making the signal go momentarily 'high' as when pressing the release button on the key fob, then you would have what you are looking for. However, I have not yet seen anyone report having done this modification.
