extending warranty

Featured Replies

well seen as the dealers are fitting a new engine due to oil consumption. Where do you think the best place to start is, to get an extended warranty on the car?

Is it Skoda UK or the dealers?

You are going to have to push Skoda UK for a decent warranty on the replacement engine/drivetrain including the gearbox,

and the work they have had carried out.

As far as buying extended on the car, Skoda are pretty expensive,

there was a post a couple of weeks ago with another couple of companies.

so I need to push Skoda themselves about warranty, ok. I'm sure I read somewhere the main office is here in sheffield

Hi there,

Not sure of your intentions are as they'd say in the sailing world..... if you mean paying for an extended warrenty then IIRC you can only purchase an extended warrenty with SUK when the car is first registered, so the only option would be the dealer or an independant insurance company like warrenty direct

If you mean getting the warrenty extended on the work they are doing to change the engine I think their standard stance is that work carried out FOC during the warrenty period will not then extend the warrenty any further, so if that's what your looking for I wish you luck

That is their stance.

But they are now 'Assuming the Position' with some Warranty Work like replacement engines.

The will not want a UK Court Case setting a president on their Corporate Failures.

They, 'Skoda/VAG' have a known fault due to manufacturing defects,of the engines which are from June 2010  to August 2012 and some 2010/2011 cars are still low mileage and only showing the problem as the Original 3 year Warranty Expires.

Skoda/VAG are the ones that have lead owners a merry dance and delayed things by going through Breather Mods etc.

That has shortened the remaining Manufacturers Warranty period before the Engine fix is carried out.

I thought  any work carried out by a Skoda Dealer using Skoda Approved parts carry a 2 year guarantee  on parts and labour.

Think you're right, but only if you're paying for it, though if what George's saying is correct then it's worth Kaa giving it a go as he'll have nothing to loose. Probably best he does some 'surfin' first to see what evidence he can gather before he contacts SUK as if he's armed with a load they will more likely to think he means business, rather than just trying in hope.... again good luck and let us know how you get on ;)

Why would this not come with a Warranty on it.

Thats why owners should push for a new engine and not a rebuild.

I think any warranty work carried out within the 3 years warranty period end after the car has reached 3. So if the gearbox was replaced with a day to go the gear box has 1 days warranty

So it does,

but owners here have had other deals struck with Skoda.

So its down to those that have got new engines to tell others what deal they have recieved.

Several members here have disappeared from this forum/section after getting new engines fitted.

Do Skoda have them sign some confidentiality agreement, or is that a conspiracy too far.

Or have the cars just be bought back by Skoda & not the Dealership?

A new 6,300 Euro Engine must come with a Warranty period as an item.
