Electric window sticking

Featured Replies

Just trying to get some research in before i dismantle the door.

The drivers-side window seems to be sticking.

When i try to operate the window, it makes a kind of "grinding" noise and doesnt move, as if the gearbox sprockets are stripped..

If i "help"  by pushing the window down, then the window goes about 3/4 down and then sticks again.

Ive had a quick look at those repair kits on ebay, but im not entirely sure that they would fix the problem?

Anyone got any ideas?

I had this on my Polo.

The regulator cable had wound itself around the sprocket and as the gear was plastic, the metal cable had stripped most of the teeth off.

The repair kits were no good for me as it was just too broken, so I had to buy a new regulator.

In most cases a genuine repair kit solves the problem.  I had to buy a repair kit (no regulator) for my A4 3 months ago & that was nearly £90!!!
