Are the rear pads new? As the pedal with feel a bit soft until the pads are fully bedded in.

They were changed in November, but we haven’t had this problem till we changed the caliper.

Try asking the garage to use VCDS to bleed the system as there might be air in the abs pump.

if that fails then it sounds like the master cylinder has flipped its seals

Hi, I have had the same problem in the past , my car 07 Octavia 1.9 DSG   600+ k

now the issue your have is one of the following

Bad brake hose :  a bad hose will alow flow in one direction but act as valve on the return causing the pressure to remain on the pads : simply replaced the brake hose and then re-bleed

If you have changed the caliper and know it is OK,  well the only other issue would the correct adjustment on the rear brake cable - bear in mind that there is a very fine balance involved ,a little too much and the caliper will always stick

it is highly unlikely that the ABS is faulty - the ecu would throw up a fault if it was

Thanks for your reply! The sticking pads have resolved, but the soft touch pedal is still a problem. Hoses are quite cheap so I might as well change them while I’m at it. Thanks all for your excellent posts, really appreciate it!
