vRS Configurator up and running

Featured Replies

Well case in point...6 month old 10k mile 34k Merc for 23k.....my 6 month old 6k mile BL which I paid 20k for would still likely retail for 18k on my local dealers forecourt. Sorry but honestly what is better value??

At no point did I state that one was better value than the other. I simply stated that they werent comparable.

Tbh, theres the phrase 'better value' or 'value for money', then there is 'cheaper'. Because the C class Merc doesnt appeal to me in any way as an ownership prospect, I wouldnt even refer to it as value for money im afraid. From trade and ownership experience Ive never actually thought Mercs, Beemers and Audi's ect are actually any better engineered than your average Ford Mondeo or Skoda Superb. Paying for an image or a badge simply doesnt interest me so for me, yes, Id be choosing the Skoda in the example you give.  :)

  • VAT free was a perpetual offer. It was "standard discount". It didn't end for years. We all knew it was like DFS sofa "last weekend" sales. Fan boys or not, we all understood that we pay £16k for OTR

From my experience of Audi/VW/Skoda are much of muchness regarding reliability based on my own cars. granted small sample. Interiors in my experience are in that order, audi being the best, fit and finish again are in that order, overall package quality are in that order aswell with audi being the best. this seems fairly obvious giving the vw/audi structure and price.

that said all are of a high standard compared to other so called prestiege brands.

i dont get the buy a basic merc/audi/bmw just to have a badge, give me a good car with good spec and a design to suit my tastes and stuff the badge :)

Mine would look something like this

Out of interst why do people want sunroofs? I've never quite understood the need on a car that has aircon?

For me, the panoramic roof has been the best option on our Yeti - each family member agrees with that. Two specific reason, roof fully back and windows down gives it many of the advantages of a convertible without the downsides. I certainly look more tanned than ever before! Lol

Secondly, it gives a wonderful feeling of space and natural light to the interior, even on overcast days. :)

Yea I think what yeti_man says is why most like sunroofs.

I guess it's like everything, it's personal taste.

I'm not a big fan and wouldn't spec one but plenty people love them and would :)

extra light & feeling of space

more manly then a convertible  :giggle:

sadly many cars don't offer a sunroof  or they no longer open which is a shame as i wouldn't consider a car without one  :(

Ah do you get a panoramic roof if you go for the sunroof on the octavia?

I agree that Panoramic roofs are great, we have one on our S-Max, it was the traditional much smaller sunroof that was the one I found more puzzling

I like a solid roof and being cocooned in ur seat lol

I don't but then I have no thatch on top and therefore find a sunroof to be totally impractical :)

On the estate only. Hatch has the standard size sunroof. S-max is a bonded/fixed glass panel unfortunately so one out of the two advantages I guess but personally I prefer an opening one. :)

So going through the configurator I see:

Space Save Spare wheel - £75

Spare 18" Alloy - £0

Am I missing something here? Why would you take the space saver over the alloy spare?

Weight.

Weight.

...and space?

Get the free alloy now, buy the space saver after.

Insurance for when you curb a wheel on day 3 of ownership!

If you want the feeling of open then have a panoramic sunroof.

Sunroof open & Air Con on = Inviting peguins & polar bears into the car
