Why Skoda?

Featured Replies

Frankly, if you don't like the cars you'll be terrible at selling them. Don't waste your time.

  • Can I ask a question in response to your original post please? Why on earth do you want to work in a Skoda dealership if you think the cars are so dull?

  • I'd like to nominate Brimma as a dragon on the next series of Dragons Den! :-)

  • There are many manufacturers out there offering similar cars, Skoda are a safe option and to the buyer who have done their research they know that they are getting technology, standards of manufacturi

I did think the OP was a wind up.

I love Toyotas, & Toyota dealership coffee.

many owners get used to that feeling of picking them up from Dealerships.

After each recall mostly.

Beautifully built from a selection of dubious parts which you can never be sure if they will work when required.

Important ones being Steering, Brakes & Air bags on some of the models.

Aw come off it George, you know that's not true as much as I do. Sure your over on the Toyota Owners Club yourself as a member, yet you've never said anything like that over there.

I won't :)

I was just pulling your leg.

I actually do say very similar things over there & Regularly.

Have been doing for longer than i have been slagging Skoda Dealers.

Some things that Toyota UK have tried to get away with is ridiculous.

Things like EGR's that they knew needed a re-call but allowed the 2009 iQ's to go out of warranty without contacting owners.

Dealers that are like 3 monkeys (Hear, See and Say no evil. Do nothing but scratch their balls and shake their heads)

and you have to get other Forum members to provide official Toyota Documents and Technical Bulletins before they agree there are such things and problems.

Owners that had Airbags that had not deployed and Toyota were not interested back then,

only paying any proper attention when the problem comes up in the US.

Good luck in your chosen career and future employment.

My Yellow Vrs is our 17th Skoda

Can't really think why we like em'

Didn't Toyota have the biggest recall campaign in history a few years back with brake problems.

Thing is though with an attitude like that he'll never be any good at selling anything -regardless of whether he believes in the product or not, apart from perhaps big-macs or petrol :giggle:

Had my fill of Toyota, an Auris T180 2.2derv.     Only kept it 4 months, just hated it, always driving in fear of the head gasket failing and  29mpg.   Seats were too hard and never felt comfortable sitting on them more than 10mins.

As for the Dealer when taking it for service, they spent more time and effort trying to sell me stuff, upgraded servicing etc. than I had time for, not to mention no courtesy car unless I paid for it and then  extra for insurance.  Never had that problem with Skoda, just booked service with courtesy car, arrive at the due date give in keys, show driving licence drive away in courtesy car, Service man rings you when car ready, drive back to dealer, swap keys and cars, pay invoice, thankyou very much and drive home.

What could be simpler, thankyou Skoda.

I am wondering if this guy is a Troll. hmmmm

Talks about Skoda being dull, then gets into a brand that has consistently been branded dull & boring by the motoring press,( not even value for money comments from the journo hacks ) has had 3 recalls for faults on some of its models within the last 3 years,  the range is virtually all Hybrid which when used in the real world is actually still an internal combustion engine still pumping out emmisions.

Customer satisfaction along with reliability feedback coming from real world people driving the cars has consistently left Toyota ( not lexus) trailing far behind.

Dull = Simple = more efficient = easier to fix = easier on your wallet = saves money =   :)  :)

P.S. Maybe should try & get a job with Toyota.

I bought my first Skoda because it's the fastest I could go reliably while being affordable. Been pedalling Skoda's for pretty much 7 years now and owned them for 5. I like Toyota and I'm glad they do recalls even years after warranty is out. The only car they do that I'd want is a GT86. Apart from that they haven't made a great car for years. My dealer is great too and when I'm not driving Skoda it will be hard work dealing with crap dealers again. My local one goes out of their way to help.

Why skoda? Because my parents were on their 3rd Skoda after being priced out the market by VW. When I passed my test, my dad decided it was time to get a new one, so I inherited the old one. My vRS is my 4th Skoda so they must be doing something right to keep me as a customer. Even briefly had a 1.4 TDI Polo between models, but the lil 3 cylinder engine just wasn't doing it for me. Wanted a 9N GT (vRS in a VW suit pretty much) but was a few grand more than the vRS and didnt look as nice IMO.
