Octavia II (57) Air-Con LEAK Rip-Off

Featured Replies

After taking it to a recommended expert, after only two weeks all the gas had gone.  I took it back saying I didn't want it regassing until the leak was tracked.  He quoted me over £1,000 for a repair that included replacement of the evaporator.  I decided that I would take it to the slightly less  expert, but competent, non-main dealer repairer who ended up costing just £50 less than the original expert quote (there is a moral lesson here) who fitted a new evaporator.

This repair lasted a week.  I think I gave a small scream.

I re-booked it with said non-main dealer who tried to do it on the fly (to his credit - he is booked up two weeks in advance) and he said - so sign of a leak  - must have been the filler a valve.

Five days later - no gas again.  This time it was booked in for a complete valve set replacement  - including the high pressure relief valve.

That was six days ago.  Now I am off on holiday in 5 days time to a country that is a lot hotter than here -  and guess what.  NO GAS!.  I have run out of ideas.  The repairer has run out of ideas.

They have checked - external joints and dye leakage, evaporator replaced, all valves replaced.  £1,000 plus spent.

HELP!

I have just had an AC repair done, and if you do a search on here (im not very IT) you'll find threads covering AC problems.

I share your frustrations :(
