At the end of it's 3 year warranty it was service time and I had to have both rear drop links replaced as they were worn and debonding, (one of the front ones was replaced a few weeks ago for the same thing,) grease was leaking between the flange on the nearside and grease was also leaking from offside driveshaft boot. I also mentioned the stone chipped paint on the rear doors, commenting that Skoda had started putting the plastic shielding there shortly after my Yeti was made.The rear doors were resprayed and the plastic applied. All done under the warranty.

I had complained earlier about a hissing noise, like compressed air being released, from the front off side suspension when it was compressed as it is not really supposed the do that. I was told that there was nothing wrong with the air damper. What air damper?

Air damper = shock absorber.

 

What you are hearing is probably the gas passing through the internal valves of it. Some are noisier than others.

Thanks. Yes I know that their "air damper" is really a hydraulic damper (the springs are by definition the shock absorbers but I call the dampers shock absorbers too) but you would think a main dealer would know what sort of dampers they use. I have never heard this noise coming fronm a car, have heard it many times from motorcycle forks. So long as nothing is likely to fail I will live with it.
