CAI , how safe are they in big puddles

Featured Replies

got a 1/4 set i keep in the basket thing, also 10mm ratchet is a must when running a fmic :giggle:

I am not sure that owners will be carrying a tool kit for CAI removal at the pint a puddle looks too risky. :giggle:

It is simple don't drive like a lemon knowing a large risky puddle is there,  as has been stated several times;

I can't believe that anyone who is sensible having any issues TBH

TBH Damian if you are going to mess with the CAI in the first place to avoid potential risk , don't fit one.

Shortening it is hassle,  as the reason it sit's where it does is to avoid the Battery, headlight back and wiring loom area and get some level of cold air being sucked in from the bumper grill .

Think if you cut pipe shorter you would have issue fitting any filter and if you did fit a much shorter/smaller,  filter it would be right behind light making a total waste of time with decent airflow the CAI was intending to do IMHO.

Was just a thought.

How long would it actually have to submerged to cause an issue? Because I need a CAI to gain the most from my map and knowing me I will forget about it one day and hit a puddle. If you have a FMIC Wouldn't the majority of the water get stuck in the cooler?

Why don't you get the R-Tech CAI?

Who told you that you "need" a cai for your map?

There was a post with dyno readings a few months back showing that the cai was down on power compared to a panel filter. I've got mine just for the noise lol

Nick said I would be much better off with a CAI over the panel.

Oh just me then Bowders lol always keep the most generic bolt size sockets and multi screw driver in the boot and obviously varying size cable ties

lol

Actually I keep a shed load of cleaning products in the boot, So if I break down i am in the swanny, but the car will be clean.... .

Err I have my full tool box in the boot, enough to do a full rebuild. One of the drawbacks to living in a flat
