  • I thought there were Skoda ones around at the time if the Blackline being available. However the one on eBay is a Seat one - no idea what colour they are...

  • DSG won't make any difference. Maxidot will but most of the newer units integrate with the white Maxidot anyway so you'll be pretty safe.

I got in touch with Car Systems who advised me that I'd need this kit:

http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-3c8035730c-retrofit,id601.html

I wonder what the difference is, aside from price? I'm pretty sure I have the same set up as you - bog standard Bolero.

Do you have mfsw or maxidot or dashboard display white or red or any of that stuff?

Fyi - I have nothing. Just the bolero unit.

I have maxidot but no MFSW. And then a bog standard Bolero. My ongoing mission is to find the right module kit that will let me stream music from my iphone which can be controlled via the iPhone or the bolero. Also to be able to receive and make calls again controlled via the iPhone or Bolero, all the while using the car speakers and microphone rather than the iphone speakers and microphone. Ideally to also be able to use the iphone voice control, Siri, via the car microphone rather than the iphone microphone. Though this last bit isn't a deal breaker. Oh and to also not lose Internet functionality from the phone so that Ivan continue to use te Waze iphone navigation app. It's hard!

When connected via bluetooth to stream music, what does the 'selection' button on the Bolero touchscreen do? I just watched this video that shows the user sending music to the car stereo from the iphone music player and third-party Pandora application (like Spotify). The song artist, title etc appear on the screen. But what the video doesn't show is what the 'selection' button does. I'd imagine it would take you to a menu in order to browse artists, playlists etc from the standard music app on the phone (as opposed to Spotify/Pandora etc). But would like to clarify this!

I started this post a little while ago, just to let you know I've ended up ordering this part from car systems, who advised was the best BT kit for me.

http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730k-retrofit-newest-version,id600.html

Next I am going to attempt to fit it, and then probably asking someone nicely to code it for me :wonder:

I'll let you know how it goes...gulp..

So, I finally got around to fitting my BT kit this afternoon.  I followed some excellent instructions from fellow members, it took me 3hrs, which I was pleased with as I've never done anything like this before and hadn't even attempted to remove stereo's/trim etc.. before.

No idea if it works yet, as I need to get it coded.  Can someone remind me where the map of briskodians are so I can ask one of them who is near me very very nicely if they can help?

Thanks!

Pleased to report I got the coding done recently by a very friendly Briskodian and also that the Bluetooth installation works and my phone and bolero are talking to each other.  For reference here are a few bits that are/are not working (some of which I didn't expect to work anyway):

Working:

- BT module/cables & mic etc.. from car systems for £191 (€220)

- installation 3hrs done by me (novice!)

- car coding 15mins by friendly briskodian

- handsfree phone calls, sound through car speakers and talk via microphone installed in interior light

- make calls via bolero unit

- phone call list (dialled/missed/received) showing actual contact names available via bolero unit

- streams podcasts/googlemusic via phone, played through car speakers

Not working:

- phone book names not displayed in address book on bolero unit (they are there, but can’t distinguish the names)

- no details of music track playing on bolero display unit

- no ability to pause, skip forward or backward tracks via bolero unit

FYI – I have a bolero (1Z0 035 156F) with no MFSW or maxidot, fitted in a 2010 octavia FL.

If anyone knows if (and also how) I can get the ability to pause and skip tracks via the bolero unit that would be great
