3C8035730C Bluetooth module, Bolero and no maxidot HELP !

Featured Replies

Anyone please help with this problem ??

I have a 2012 Octavia Estate with a Bolero fitted and factory fitted MDI. I do not have maxidot onboard computer but my vehicle does have the white central display.

I have purchased a Premium ( rsap + HUV) bluetooth module (3C8035730C ) and wiring harness, GSM cable and microphone which have all been fitted.

Another briskoda member ( Anddenton - thanks again for you time & effort ) has offered to help me code to the vehicle, however he was unable to do this.

The Bolero recognizes the module as BT audio is displayed but greyed out in the media section. When you press the phone button it states No user connected.

Really frustrating as I thought retrofitting bluetooth was easy other than codeing.

A printout of the VCDS scan can be found here, along with other information :-

Please help as Im starting to get the feeling i`ve wasted a lot of cash !!!!!

Would a premium bluetooth module work better with columbus ???

Buying the premium kit is not for non maxidot cars, as the maxidot is required to allow your phone to pair with the kit.

You have 2 options

swop the Module for a 7P6 or 5K0 box

plug your 3C8 box into a car with Maxidot and pair your phone, then refit it to your car

The guys at Car systems in Poland told me the 7P6 has issues downloading the phonebook to the Bolero and recommended the 3C8 instead. I have Maxidot fortunately. But could the OP have issues with the 7P6 as well?

Ah, that answers that then.

My car has maxidot (All be it its 2008 so quite old) so this could potentially be an option? Changing phones could be a problem though!

Eddie-NL I know you retrofit Maxi-dot, how much you it be for you to source parts and fit ?? Would this then solve my problems ???

I want bluetooth for a 2010 VRs, to use phone and play iphone music.

Is there anyway of doing this please

I wonder if the phone being used has some bearing on if there's a phone book problem or not? I have an iPhone 4S. This is what I had from Car Systems by email: "In bolero is problem with phonebook download that we prefer 3c8 module"

I have an iPhone 5 and the guy from the Czech online shop where its 169 euros said that it works with his perfectly?

I am looking to do something similar and was wondering what parts I would need I only really want the audio over Bluetooth not fussed about the hands free. Car is a mk2 facelift 59 plate no maxi dot, bolero stereo no steering wheel controls.

Got the 3c8 for 187 euros delivered :). Is it a bitch to fix? I have radio etc on mfs on 2010 vrs?

How long for a pro? How long for a numpty - me please.

I'll defer to Eddie's greater knowledge about premium kits etc, but when i fitted my non premium kit, i was able to pair the phone before the car was coded to allow access via the maxidot. If you read the section in the handbook, it states that the unit is visible for (something like) 3 minutes after you turn on the ignition. So i got my phone ready to pair, turned on the ignition then set off the search from the phone. It found the bt module and asked for a pin (either 0000 or 1234 i forget but in my case it was NOT the one the manual said it should be).

After that, everything worked fine for a couple of days until the car was coded.

Non premium kits are visable

You have to access the phone menu in the maxidot to look for phones

Non premium has a pin of 0000 where the premium has a 12 or 16 digit passcode to connect

So I you have a maxidot is it worth the extra for the premium kit? I really can't work it out.

Maxi dot displays SMS apparently

also has the option to read them out

Now struck with a problem !!!

I have the premium kit but no MAXIDOT. Would prefer to have the premium kit installed (as I would like to upgrade bolero to columbus at a later date), but would need to try and get MAXIDOT retrofitted.

I am currently having problems trying to get a cluster with MAXIDOT, but Eddie-NL will fit if I can get the right cluster.

I am considering the following options now based on Eddie-NL expert advice.

  1. Swapping the 3C8 module for a 7P6 Module for standard handsfree bluetooth working with bolero
  2. Trying to get the current 3C8 module paired with my current phone using another briskoda members MAXIDOT and then fitting in my vehicle (will have problems at a later date pairing other phones ) and continue looking to get MAXIDOT retrofitted.

I am considering just pairing my phone with another MAXIDOT and retrofitting as I dont change my mobile phone very often and could simply go through the process of module swap to a MAXIDOT vehicle on the rare occasion I swap my mobile phone. ( HTC sensation XE).

What features would premium module give over standard on a bolero ? ie would you get SMS on bolero or not ???

You won't gain anything over the standard phone kit till you have maxidot.

Eddie-NL,

If I took my module to a family members Yeti with BT, MSFW and MAXIDOT fitted, unplugged his module then plugged my module in and looked in MAXIDOT to pair my phone, unplug my module and plug the original YETI module back in, would that cause any problems/faults in the YETI vehilce ??

I can have access to a family members YETI with MAXIDOT but don`t want to cause any problems/faults to get my premium  module paried

As I understand it, if you use an iphone (which doesn't have rsap ability) there is zero benefit of the premium module whatever way you look at it. Do correct me if I'm wrong.

The only advantage of the premium kit over the standard with iphones is the better reception

I took my module to a family members Yeti with BT, MSFW and MAXIDOT fitted, unplugged his module then plugged my  3C8 module in and looked in MAXIDOT to pair my phone, which it did successfully and then refitted the 3C8 module back into my vehicle without maxidot.

My 3C8 module connects to my phone and downloads phonebook and makes calls but its connection is very hit and miss, sometimes when I phone out using the display on the bolero it connects the call, but does not turn down/off the radio or media and I cannot hear the person answering the call. On other occasions it works perfectly.

Eddie-NL has been providing lots of help & advice and he will hopefully be shortly helping me retrofit MAXIDOT, MFSW and completing the 3C8 bluetooth and coding so that everything works seamlessly. just waiting for a number of parts to arrive !

Glad you've got a path forwards to getting it sorted.

Thanks again for your help trying to code my module

This is starting to get complicated, I'm looking to chop out my stream mp3 for a bolero and would like to integrate bluetooth also.

Car is a 2007 vrs with maxidot, what would i need?

1) bolero headunit (are there differnet types)

2) gateway (Type?)

3) bluetooth module and other parts?

Has the maxi dot always been white? If it was ever red like the VW version that also has some Bearing on module options! It is very confusing!

Bolero-wise, the 'M' variant is the one that's more compatible apparently.
