Jeez, them amerikans are stupid

What a numpty!

To be fair though, the guy has a point.

If my Furby only did 117 instead of the 128 Skoda quote, I'd be pretty hacked off too. Fortunatley I've never driven that fast to find out ;)

Have any of them?

128 I thought the fabia was geared for more?

I recall hitting 120 in the 4x4 before running out of runway and that's a short box, but I had a few k rpm left to go.

My Furby does 135 on the clock occasionally. Thats like 4200 revs, so unlikely to ever go any quicker... (140 once, with the help of a wee hill - before thinking "std brakes, downhill, 140mph, best ease off...")

Ahh, my fault. I've must have misunderstood.

Technically, yes. At least my 53 plate car should go far beyond that if you could redline it in 6th. But air-resistance is probably to blame as the Furby has a higher drag factor than Octy's, and the vRS is worse than the ordinary ones.

That said, I've seen 120mph on the flat. Once. Backed off then. Figured that was enough and haven't felt the need to try that test again.

theres a video on here of a vRS hitting 126 before backing off gps reading

stated speed is stated speed, but I do recall reading something about in certain conditions, always a get out huh, would be interesting to see the result.

Never had GPS conformation of speed but my old Fabia had been know to dissappear off the end of the clock.

53 Furby should go higher than the newer geared ones, esp when remapped to give it the power to push it through the air :D

As already mentioned - with standard brakes you're pushing it a tad. Didnt feel unsafe but the braking distance becomes a lot longer then I'd feel comfy with :D

I've seen a GPS verified 131mph whilst Speed testing mine on a private road the other week!

Thats one way of getting a free car!! :D

@Lummox - was that a 53 one? I've not pushed mine over 130 indicated as it wasnt run it yet at the time and I cant use that road any longer (no longer work there).

Dont fancy getting caught doing 130ish mph I must admit :D

The guy does have a point. He's dished out almost Dhs.800,000 for a Ferrari that does much less than it's claimed to be. That's why I said (quite a long time ago, when I first joined these forums) that manufacturers always claim less than the car can actually do.

With current mods on private airstrip ( grass of course ) Car kept going past 4600 rpm until restrictor on fuel pump kicks in maybe have to adjust the stop a fraction, just to prove it wasn't a fluke done it several times both ways, night time is great up north. But of course an Octy would only be in 4th where as the poor Fabia was in 6th. And yes it does go off the uncalibrated clock.

Has anyone done a RWD Octavia mod yet, heard of one in the pipeline.

A quote from the SkodaOctavia Technical data booklet:

The performance figures were measured without the vehicle being fitted with any equipment such as air conditioning, mud flaps, which affect the performance.

Well we know even a Vectra does a proven 160mph so 175mph top speed in a Ferrari is very poor considering the areodynamics.

Followed a 355 around Donnington in a 450bhp Skyline and I was suprised how quickly we were able to catch it on the longer straights. Probably would have left it for dead with a long enough straight.

The F355 was awesome in the corners though.

Cheers
