Have I just had a limp moment in the vRS

Featured Replies

Had been for a run to Atherstone and back today, very wet in places, but nothing remarkable otherwise

A lot of you may know the road where you turn off the A1 at Markham Moor to head towards Lincoln, and head up a sharpish hill

I went up, overtaking another vehicle in the process, and the power hesitated, an engine fault blipped up on the dash, and the coil light illuminated and stayed on, with the speed limiting itself

I pulled in fairly shortly afterwards in a lay-by, switched off, re-started, and everything operated properly for the rest of the journey, no more lights, pick up was fine

Have I just had one of 'those moments', or does it need looking into any deeper?

I'm going to do a fault code check, which might throw something up, but the fault seems to have cleared itself

All assistance gratefully received

Hopefully

I hope it is not the injector woes. Warranty work can be as bad if not done right

Scan it and see - If the CR170 uses the same turbo control as the PD140 it could be sticky vanes causing an overboost, but if you got lights there should be a code in the ECU.

A generic OBD2 code reader should be able to read the ECU at least if you haven't got access to VCDS.

Be interesting to see which one comes back, is that DPF sensor error code the one that you get when you have the dodgy original one installed, there is a revised version for the CR.

Turbo control range not reached could point to a Turbo issue or Boost Leak somewhere.

Thanks for that...........I'll keep a close on it to see if/when anything similar recurs
