Car at SVAG show 2013 (photo whore)

Featured Replies

Car was in SVAG 2013 yesterday. Great day out, unfortunately the weather wasn't really on our side. Anyway spend a few hours on friday n some on saturday getting it prepp'd. The wheels were meant to be done for the show but unfortunately the chap couldn't get the paint in time for me so its due to go in this week.

Anyway the cleaning process went -

Rinse
Prewash
Rinse
Wash
De-tar
Fallout remover
Polish using a cheap halfords orbital and megs ultimate compound (i really need to learn to machine polish)
IPA and re polish as required
Autoglym sealant
Angelwax black chocolate wax
Windows polished
wheels polished
tyres dressed
Rubbers cleaned and dressed
Interior hoover'd, cleaned and dressed

All the hard work really paid off as it was well overdue, though the photos don't really show it due to the rain :(

Anyways, enjoy! Also congratulations to the chap who i was talking to with the white vrs who won a trophy, can't remember your name sorry! Car was stunning. Don't know if your on here?

Looks awesome mate. If you ever want tips on deatailing like machining I am happy to help. Im a fairly experianced detailer.

Front end looks good with the black grill and tinted headlights.

Sarge.

This is the car I'm looking for, love it in black! Cheers for the photos.

Cheers guys, thanks for nice comments :)

That's great matty, what would you say bout the process I used, anything you would change?

Na process is spot on. Thats what id have done. But id add claying into it after fall out remover.

Haha I knew I had forgot to add something, yep got called aswell with a medium - firm clay bar :)

* clayed

Yep thats all spot on. Well done on the work.

Cheers, good to know I'm getting there :) going to buy a machine polisher. was looking on eBay, saw a silverline with some autoglym gear for 99 squids, seems a decent deal to me to start learning

why?.... fall out remover will remove anything on the car, pointless task claying.

its all in the prep i.e get it properly corrected and it will look better with no wax compared to a car without correction and smothered in wax ;)

Why is claying pointless? It helps pull out the contaminants out the paint befor polishing preventing any extra swerls.

I do though agree with your second coment. A good finish is all about prep and polish.

I thought the tar remover would lift any large bits or tar, the fallout remover removed likes of brakedust embedded on the paint and the clay then picked up any left over contaminants and removes any wax remaining in prep for polishing? :s saying that the clay bar was coming off largely spotless, very small bits in a couple of places but mostly clean.

Did you tint the headlights yourself?

Great looking car butt. What is it lowered on tho? Im trying to get the same ride height on mine.

Cheers bbz

Cars looking great   couldn't help but notice the MK3 VRS there also, looks like Henrys Skoda Demo VRS.

Cheers Guys!! BIG Nick i used "fly eyes" kit to tint the headlamps, some like it some don't. I really like it, dead easy on a facelift as the lights just pop out! VRS_MAJ it's running on some cheapo JOM coilies just now. The ride height is ridiculous though as its been set twice so far and then bedded in a bit lower each time! Think its finished bedding in now though so going to raise the front end a bit. Cheers Allan, i'm getting there :) wheels, windows and wind deflectors n i'm pretty much done!! WOOPWOOP. Keen eye thought oters would have picked up on it hehe! It is Henrys demo, nice car though after seeing it in the flesh i think theres not much between them and ours!

Yeah it's a nice car. I had a look around it on the day it was delivered. I might be looking to change sometime next year but gonna wait n see what offers skoda come up with.

Yes the tar and glue will remove tar, but claying is pointless when a fall out remover will remove 99% of the contaminants, also when your polishing assuming you are using a pure polish of whatever grade then that will remove the wax/sealant.

If you need info on detailing go on to detailingworld.co.uk loads of info on there to help you.
