2003 Fabia 1.9tdi

Featured Replies

Hello

I am going to look at a 1.9tdi pd Fabia Comfort estate 83k FSH.  What should I be looking out for as  regards problem areas?  I once had a Codoba 1.9 diesel, but no experiance with TD engines so all advice would be welcom.   Beyond this what is the best way forward as regards tuning.  inlets, pipes, mapping, chips and advice on timing belts too (are cheap ones any good, I will do it myself)

Thank you for your help

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

If I were looking at the vehicle you mention i'd look at the following:

  1. Cambelt and water pump serviced at the right intervals 60k miles or 4 years
  2. Console bushes if worn can be replaced with solid SEAT cupra ones
  3. Any issues with EGR/Boost leaks etc
  4. Any loss of coolant - could indicate radiator on the way out.

Tuning wise on the PD100. How deep are your pockets? Check out Jason's (devonutopia) build thread for his 'PD100' now pushing 280bhp :o

Best bang for buck would be a remap, check out the forum sponsors for options. Otherwise, air filter, de-cat exhaust system, lowering if you want on coilovers or springs.

My 'PD105' Roomster is chucking out around 150bhp from little more than a remap and some breathing mods.

nothing I can add to that, you couldn't get anyone more informed to answer ;)

I'd also check all the gears engage smoothly, without too much notchyness or any crunching, especially first, second and reverse.

Mine had to have the gearbox stripped and rebuilt (cost £800) and the gearbox specialist said they see this type of gearbox in with the same issue quite a lot.
