Discount at the moment? (on vrs)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Given the new Fabia is nearly out, what sort of discount can you get on the VRS?

I would say nothing, as a lot of the cars are built to order. But there used to be 0% finance available, again this would take away some of the 'haggling' ability.

There is no vat free offer now. £17,150.00 OTR so depends on the dealer for discount

There are new prices from july 13

That is really expensive still.

Wasnt the original 13K or something silly?

£16,500 otr ish. With VAT

Very few were bought at launch in Solid Colours with no optional extras, so at the lowest possible OTR price a dealer could give..

Demonstrators and Press Cars were Speced up.

(After launch to the public, cars had ECU upgrades and this meant changes to how they behaved from the test comments of the various road testers comments about DSG's,

they should of known anyway that cars with that type of gearbox develop to drivers style, and that Press Journalists are prone to driving in a

certain style and maybe not being mechanically sympathetic to a new car, or one not bought with their own cash money.)

Some 13 plate Delivery Mileage cars showing at £15,000 Asking Price, I would be expecting something more off them.

New 63 plate about to come out and all that jazz.

There is 0% offer on at the moment across the whole Skoda range except special editions. My son went to our local dealers to price up a new Fabia estate last Sunday and ended up getting 0% solutions deal and 3yrs free servicing.

The new Monte Carlo Tech estate and the Yeti Adventure aren't included in the 0% deal

You can get 0% finance on the vRS, either PCP or HP

You'll always get a discount on a mainstream car like the Fabia.

I got a substantial discount on our Octavia even though it was built to order, had a 4-6month waiting list and was on the VAT free deal.

And just a couple of weeks ago I haggled another £400 off the price of my mums new Fabia Monte Tech which is obvioulsy aleady a special offer.

Broadspeed are showing the vRS for £14125 which is a £3k saving.

Take this price to your dealer and commence haggling!

The way I did it with my Octavia was to take the Drive the deal price and add on how much it would cost me to go and collect the car from their dealers location (South of England when I was in Scotland).

I added that price onto the price they were selling the car for and came up with a figure.

I was open with the dealer about this price and after a few rounds back and forth he came to within about £300.  I figured the extra few hundred was worth avoiding the hassle of spending two days travelling to pick it up so agreed the price.

I would imagine that getting £1k off the full list price of a new Fabia vRS should be pretty straight-forward.

It stands to sense that they should still be available, without options, for around £14k,VAT free offer still on or not.

The vRS mk2 is not getting any younger,I can only see demand reducing from now on,so previous discounts should be maintained and increasing in the run-out phase...is that next year?

Thanks for all the replies.

If it was bought for lets say £15,000.....

How much would it realistically be worth in 4 years, 30k miles?

Edited by Fred44

Probably not much with the MK2 Fabia vRS being one of the biggest depreciating cars you can buy at the moment.

But maybe buy with a 5 year Warranty and keep for 5 years.

Cheap motoring and you have a car that might not have cost much over those 5 years.

How you look after it will then dictate its condition and possible value.

But you need a crystal ball to buy a car in 2013, and know how things will be in 2017, Euro 6 Emissions cars on sale by then,

Fuel Prices etc.

Ones bought for maybe £16,000 3 years ago might now sell for £8,500

People are getting more in Trade Ins.

Anyones guess what a 2010 car will be worth in another 12 months.

Ask Dealers the Costs, the various Purchases, finance or PCP, Lease options etc.

They have an idea what they are going to value cars at in the future.

They have them at their finger tips.

Looking in a basic way at the figures.

£15,000 new with 5 years warranty and 3 year service plan. Bought Cash, so not thinking on finance costs.

if worth at the min £5000 after 5 years.

£10,000 divided by 260 weeks, meant it cost you £38.50 a week max in depreciation.

If worth more than £5000, the figure is even better.

Then running costs.

4 x Road Tax, (first tax comes with the car)

2 x mot's.

maybe 1 or 2 services in 4th and 5th year.

So just Fuel and Insurance & you have the running costs to work out.

They are my intentions,George, mine was bought new at just over £15 k with quite a few options and 5 years warranty and 3 years free servicing....and my initial thoughts were that,as you say,if it was worth £5 k at the end then I was OK with it.

So far 8000 miles,no problems whatsoever so not been back to the dealers, oil consumption minimal, less than my previous Octy vRS..

Even the pull to the left has reduced to virtually nil as the tyres have worn in.

So motoring has no worries for me at the moment.

Broker4cars price is £14518 at the moment.
