DSG - vibration on gear change

Featured Replies

Skoda Superb 2, 2009, 170CR,  DSG,   40k - occasionally I have some vibration lasting about half a second on the up change, probably from 2nd to 3rd.  Could be a small amount of clutch slip.   Only occasional, not consistent, perhaps more prone when engine cold;  can be when towing or not towing (caravan) and the amount of throttle doesn't seem to matter either, though generally I am a very light user of the right foot.

Is this likely to be the start of a significant problem in due course? Anyone with any experience of this please?

Before I talk with my Skoda servicing garage, are they likely to be able to diagnose accurately?  Could it just be gearbox fluid needs changing/filling (Porshe auto boxes can sometimes be cured this way)?

I really want a 100% reliable car so I am keen to find out whether it's time to sell especially as very soon it will need some new boots, cam belt and water pump changed as well.

Thanks for any advice /comments

Brian

I've covered 60,000kms and not  a ounce of trouble from the DSG.  Should be serviced at 60000km (just done) quite expensive but I'm told it avoids a lot of issues that can crop up if ignored.  Beautiful car to drive ....always sorry to turn into my street!!  :giggle:

The gearbox oil should be changed at 40,000 miles.  This may cure it if it hasn't been done.

I'd hazard a guess it's slight play in the DMF tbh, the oil and filter should be changed on 40000 miles but having seen one done I think it's a excessive thing that isn't really needed, you should however change the filter as I believe this to be the crucial factor, had I kept mine I intended to soak a filter in DSG oil and only replace the filter as the old oil comes out clean as new oil going in and as it's hydraulic oil rather than oil exposed to proper heat and combustion I think VAG simply spec'd it that way to cover themselves, if the car is in warranty then you will have to do the whole lot at a VAG dealer to ensure there's no quibbles should the worst happen.
