Bolero unexpected station jumping when TP on - resolved

Featured Replies

I've been having a problem with my Bolero in my 2012 Yeti, when, with:

  • TP on, and
  • Tuned to a BBC national station (usually Radio 3 for me)

the radio would jump at random to a different channel for a few seconds.  This would occur several times in a 30 minute journey, and occasionally when stationary.

This is not the same as the normal Traffic bulletin announcements.  When these bulletins are broadcast, the display on the Bolero changes to show which station is broadcasting the announcement, and gives the option to cancel (on the screen).  When the random jumping occurs, the display did not change at all.

Anyway, with video evidence to prove the issue, Skoda service centre at Camberley had it in for no less than three days with it hooked up to their computer and Skoda factory attempting to diagnose.   It was resolved by what looks like a firmware upgrade.  The only unwanted side effect of the upgrade is that I can no longer cancel the bulletins by the up/down buttons on the steering wheel, but that's much better than the station jumping.

Credit to Skoda Camberley for persisting with the issue and resolving it.

Any idea on the firmware code number so I can ask for it as local dealer in the dark on this?

I found out this information by holding down the Setup button for about 4 seconds, and then looking at the version information:

HW index 010

SW index 0061

Software version 04.06/0406

Boot loader version 01.02

Supplier BVX

Hope that helps.

You could also ask your service centre to call Camberley Skoda on 01276 33555 and ask for their head tech, called Artur. He should be able to explain to them what to do providing they explain the issue properly.  Or take it to Camberley

Holding set up button brought up ' Radio Service menu.....What did I DO WRONG.

Keep getting told by Dealer no Bolero update available (since 2010) .....what do you do to get them to find it as it obviously exists but they are looking in the wrong place.

Had the station jumping issue since new and it is not to with traffic news as it jumps to random stations.

That's what is supposed to happen.  Look through the options and find the one that gives you version information.

As far as dealers are concerned, I suggest you call my dealer as above, remind them that they've fixed one like it and ask if they'll take a look at yours.  You need a tech that is interested in solving the problem rather than just brushing you off.

Sorry to ask but any clues as a bit lost in the secret menu and don't want to mess it up...any further instructions where to go/look would be helpful.

On mine, after holding down set up for 4 seconds, I get three options:  FM, AM and Version.  Just select Version, and the details are displayed.

Only get FM & AM (Sept 2010 Yeti). Does it matter which mode you are in before holding down

setup......Radio/Media e.t.c.?

I've only tried it from the Radio mode. Should think it indicates you have a different version to me, but perhaps not surprising since mine is late 2012.
