MTM remap about 8 months ago now not accelerating properly 2010 VRS

Featured Replies

This has been happening for about two months. I had an MTM remap done.

When I accelerate medium or hard it feels like a kangaroo forward and back from the engine not the lively va voom it had.

Would an ECU cause this or turbo or supercharger?

Octavia 2010 VRS estate 30 K

Any ideas hugely aprreciated.

Any fault codes?

Could be misfire due to failing coil pack?

Petrol or diesel?

DMF?

Coil packs for sure if it's a petrol or spark plugs. I would change both if it's a petrol change spark plugs for a cooler plug especially if mapped.

Of topic slightly how much did mtm charge as there one of the more expensive tuners out there if I'm correct?

Petrol yes. Are Coil packs expensive? It had new plugs at the service. Was perfect until a few weeks ago. Does 98 v power make it weird in anyone's opinion?

What plug would you recommend please?

Sorry, yes not cheap but dealer was local to where I was 600 plus vat I think.

Off topic slightly but did VAG ever sort out the coil pack with newer engines as mines a 2012 engine and the car is a 2010....(replacement this year before purchase). The only reason i ask is i hear alot about these faulty coilpacks....

A 2010 car might still be in warranty, in which case try your dealer.  If it's not still under warranty I think if this was my car I'd be having a chat with whoever did the map to see if they have any suggestions, especially if these faults only started shortly after having the map done (you never mentioned the timescales)

Doubtful if it is down to the remap as mtm are a well known tuner and the map has been on the car for 8 months. If it was the map it would have likely shown symptoms far earlier on. Bear in mind when a car is remapped it does put more pressure on various components such a coilpacks etc so if a component is not 100% then it will be highlighted far more than if the car was standard.

As everyone has said, sounds like coilpack or plug failure, get logging then switch them around and you will see the misfire move cylinders!

I will replace coil pack with the uprated VAG. Is it easy to do are there any specialist tools needed?
