Pet driving hates/dislikes?

But doing nothing at all could arguably be worse in the long run. If they know they can get away with it once they'll do it again and again and all it takes is for someone else to have a momentary lapse, not expecting him to do such a stupid move and cause an accident. I had a similar situation before which I have explained before but I also got criticised about it.

I've also blocked an overtaking Impreza when in a works van to protect him and the oncoming they couldn't see. I overtake a lot and locally know all the spots where it's safe to so it's not like he knew more about the road than I did and I had the better view. After the block and the beeping and flashing lights after they pulled back in they saw the van coming the other way. When the next stretch came up I tapped a left indicator they passed me with a thumbs up.

  • I hate people who drive at 40mph on national speed limit country roads were it is often difficult to pass safely, effiectively imposing their leisurely schedule on everyone behind them. Especially if

  • Middle lane hogs. Cars without indicators. Drivers on a mobile phone. People driving up my chuff. Base spec premium car drivers with a chip on their shoulder. Range Rover Sports, Cayennes etc...

Old people is my main concern. Complete lack of senses , mainly sight. Also the lack of ability to drive the correct speed. They are a danger on the roads and need to be taken off lol

Lots do. Saw a man in his 80's at a B&Q struggling to even get into the car. This was a week after my mother, aunty and cousin in their infinite wisdom when my Grandad had a few months of being ill decided to stop him driving. They sold the car for a stupidly low price even after me spending a day detailing it. I was livid! Now he's well again he could easily drive again. Before he was ill he was still a pretty good driver and still heel and toed. Quite quick too given he was 80.

  1. Traffic lights whose sequence allows nearly 4 whole cars through at a time

Poor observation and anticipation

MLOC

Drivers who do not 'make progress' where the speed limit permits

Sections of road where the speed limit changes from NSL to 30 in the space of 2' 6". countdown markers FTW ///, //, / B)

Use of hazard flasher as a 'public apology/cloak of invisibilty' tool for illegal activity

Totally forgot this one. The total berks (usually caravanners) who decide rush-hour is THE ideal time to get away.

Oi! Behave!

If you're lucky you'll be old one day. ;)

1. people who block junctions up ie: do not position car right.

2.tractors who dont pull over even when there is 30+ cars behind them.......I mean where the f*** are they going!

3.drivers who have all the time in the world doing 20 in a 60.......should be banned

4.drivers who take 30secs or more to set of from the traffic lights.

5.my best one in arsoles who slam on and get inbetween my 44ton tanker and then I have to slam on......really ****es me off :wall:

There's all sorts that irritates me on the roads, the main one is middle lane drivers late at night who then have a chip on their shoulder when you pull out from the inside across however many lanes you need to pass them, and then passing and pulling back in and across to the inside. The amount of times I've been flashed by them doing that!

And road captains, especially when you eventually do overtake them and they then choose to sit on your bumper as their BMW is superior to your little Skoda... It's just a shame I knew the road better than him :p

People who are aggressive with hgv drivers who are doing 40mph on single carriageway nsl roads!!!!! It's the law moron!!!!!! And no they don't pull over as it decimates fuel econamy

And why should he have let him in? The other guy was being a kn0b - maybe he'll think twice next time before trying it again.

Who said he should let him in?

I implied that it was perhaps unnecessary to go out of the way to block him.

It's not our place to enforce the rules of the road on each other.

It's picking a fight and I think it's unnecessary.

Except that in this case it was the fact that the guy was blocked which led to an even more dangerous manoeuvre apparently. This wouldn't have happened if the guy wasn't blocked.

All the block has achieved is the op not being overtaken, a large dose of smugness, a bit of anger and a later example of dangerous driving. It would have been safer to ignore the whole thing and not get involved.

After all, I thought we'd all agreed we dislike those who enforce their driving standards on others?

Correct me if I am wrong but I always thought it states in the Highway Code that if a lane is closing, you have to let them in/merge? (As in you are obliged to let them in if you are in the lane remaining open)

I'm a very obliging driver but if traffic is merging from left into a single lane how the **** is a car trying to push thru a gap which isn't there ? , I know just squeeze into the car merging correctly on the left ! Causing a accident and the knob getting away as he didn't get smashed up ! , no stay in correct lane in the middle of the white lines and allowing traffic to come in correctly , as for the fight ! No problems just brushed up on my carers Kung fu I've got the moves now !

I didn't close the lane in fact I helped the traffic flow :)

When I'm sitting in the left most lane I the motorway, someone comes up alongside about 5mph quicker. Then they don't quite clear the front of my car when I need to move over to overtake a lorry or slow moving car, but instead start slowing down despite nothing being in front of them. Why?!? Just why?

Colour blind cyclists ! Red means stop. Not carry on regardless.

People who brake, slow right down and then just before the junction indicate and turn left / right off the road. You know and anticipate them doing it but just indicate and let people know please.

Also, why are people defending those that choose to ignore the lane closing signs and race down the queue of traffic in lane 1 thinking they can push in? Bad manners of the highest order. They wouldn't do it if people didn't let them in.

Sorry, was that a "yes you are correct, it does state that in the Highway Code" but in a different language?!

Er, that would be all of them, except for the bit where the change is instantaneous rather than over 30 inches.

Perhaps you'd like to point me to where it says in the HC that LGV fuel economy or scheduling supercedes due consideration in respect of queues forming behind slow moving vehicles?

In my recent experience (though I neither "ignored" the signs, not "race"d down the open lane,) the queue of stationary traffic is at the "800 yds to go" point because everyone seems to want to merge between there and the 600 marker, whereas at the point around 100 yds to go, the traffic was actually flowing meaning there were gaps for people to merge smoothly and keep going

what's the point in having 700 yards of open lane, maybe even more stationary traffic furtehr back, when it would be more sensible for everyone to use both lanes for as much as possible ?

Consider what would happen if everyone used two lanes right up to the end - grid lock. The only reason there is a queue at 800yds is because those at the head of the queue are having to brake to let the Yuppie-berks in.

Ok, so this one irritated me over the weekend. The box with a BIG ARROW turning right with hatchings/chevrons either side of it. The box is to pull into to turn right, leaving a free and unhindered line of traffic that is being left on the carriageway that is being vacated. But no, people block the road and don't pull into the box provided. Get over, or get off the road. That is all.

Yep, or they do attempt to use the box, but they turn in to it so late they leave their arse end sticking out in to the main carriageway and still blocking traffic.

After spending 20min in this situation, I'm going with this thought. You'd have the same amount of traffic queuing just in two shorter queues and the one lane that is open would flow even worse with loads of people trying to "merge". Once I see the signs I line a gap up and move to the correct lane. Thankfully earlier today a lorry just blocked the outside lane, after a bit the traffic flowed nicely without the people going down the outside.
