Help, I can't open the drivers door. VRS MK1

Featured Replies

Hello, I have looked around for a fix to my problem and found a rather helpful guide, BUT!!!!

The drivers door won't unlock, either by alarm fob, key remote, key or from inside.

To fix this, I need the door to be OPEN!!!

How the hell do I unlock it lol

Any help would be appreciated!

I would have thought that would be a problem for the mechanic and not you.

Mechanics cost money!!!

In the end i had to take the door card off trying not to damage it to much. Started by taking the screws behind the grab handle the door lever and the tweeter out then working my way across the top of the door unhooking it. Then you can reach down inside the door to undo any cables for speakers, puddle lights ect. Sometimes you can unclip the clips that join the door card to the door think theirs 6 or 7. 2 on each side and 2 or 3 across the bottom. I broke 2 side ones. I don't think i removed the door card completely just enough to allow good access the the locking mec. Make sure there is no wires cables or anything you may have mist left in your way then smash the lock into about half a million bits then the door opened. Removed what was left of the lock and fitted the new one.

Probably not the best way to do it but it worked for me.

Will have to try to do that, just need to get to wiring box to fix it. Not too bothered about new locks as I've got no money to spend on it at the moment!

My first problem was with the wiring going into the window regulator. one of the pins had corroded and stopped the electric motor for the lock working this also stopped my electric drivers mirror working. About 4 months after fixing this the door deadlocked and thats when i needed to replace the locking mec. When it was just the wiring problem i could still unlock the car with the key in the door after unseazing it lol.

For some reason, the key wont go into the barrel?

I only got one key and as it only fits the ingnition, I presume its a replacement and wont open door or boot!

My barrel on the drivers door was seazed. Lots of wd40 and lots of juggling the key carefully as not to snap the key. Had the same problem with a passat and an a4. Something funny with these VAG locks lol. Never had a problem with the boot lock on any of them though so maybe yours is the key itself.

Think I'll give that a go!

Cheers Ross

You should be able to get the door open with the key in the barrel once you unseize it.

The key will take a good bit of pressure. I used the strew on the wd and filled the barrel over night then again every night and morning for a couple of days just to give it a good chance to soak in. then after a few days start on it with the key. Patience with this one is all i can say.

Just posted a fix on this. Just use the idea on the front door. Look at my posts.
