  • ok, on first impressions of "normal" driving , no difference (I wouldn't expect there to be....) then I tried a corner today that I can push on (a "usual" corner) and a speed that would normally induc

  • Congratulations.  I messaged AKS tuning to ask, and they can get H&R ARBs with no issues, so get ordering.  Its worth it!!.     AKS Tuning: 01234 822324

  • I suppose I will be the weight penalty if I join you!!  :wonder:    I am sure I will take a seat with you at Oulton Park, I am going to have a go at photographs at CC, might even fit the roof bars o

Awesome improvement

Well, that's a strange thing to say based on my experience. We installed it with a friend and  with practically no ramp to lift the car, just a high pavement to help us go underneath and it took about an hour. Then when I decided to set it on the hardest setting, I went to a garage with a proper ramp and I was done in around 20 min.

However mine is the Whiteline  model with not so steep bendings along the bar so maybe that was the issue for you? Anyway, I'm sure you'll see the difference as soon as you take the first corner...!

Will be interesting to hear your thoughts

The H&R one is alot stiffer than the whiteline though.

I've got the Whiteline one,on the hardest setting.

Feels a lot more neutral on fast corners, doesn't seem to make that much difference on slow corners, all the weight at the front still dominating I suppose.

On fast corners the steering seems to have a little more weight and feel also.

The springs even the H&R that sharkrider has on are a different poundage for the estate, so the setting will need to be try and see,

just as it can be with a hatch.

george

H&R ones arent adjustable so its fit and forget.  No adjustment needed anyway IMO.  It doesnt turn the car into an oversteering nightmare, it just gets rid of the eons of std understeer

when I've had a chance to "play" I'll write a little review :)

ok, on first impressions of "normal" driving , no difference (I wouldn't expect there to be....) then I tried a corner today that I can push on (a "usual" corner) and a speed that would normally induce understeer, it simply tucked in tight, with no drama and no sliding!

only time will tell for a difinitive review, BUT I'm at castle combe soon (with briskoda track day) and last time I was there, it was my old vRS but with the same tyres on, so I'll have a direct comparison, with the new car with eibachs and RARB :)

again I will review as experiances come up :)

Don't suppose you're in the Northwest? Just trying to find somewhere to get one of these fitted.

Any decent garage should be able to fit it. I removed my old jabba one (mk1) on my drive

indeed, this was my local tyre place :) I know them, and they are always willing to help... "its not something we normally do, but we'll give it a go" LOL.... £40 , thanks chaps , money well spent!

been pushing it in the wet today... I may have to adapt, you have better turn in, and better front end bite, but no better traction.....*more speed in ... wait...wait... throttle progresively!

will be able to fine tune my skills in a safe enviroment at castle coombe in afew weeks :)

I second that.

opk, been whipping around in the dry today, this mod is growing on me... its hard to discribe, but the car "FEELS" much much better... it is more composed over bumps and undulating roads, the turn in is almost as if I have a faster steering rack on, or am actually getting rear end steer (This may be placebo) the ultime grip in the dry on some "usual" roads today is a massive step higher...

I cant really word it, its not just grip , it "feel" for the first time the car feels like it handles well, as I'd expect a fiesta ST to (no driven one) or a last generation clio, its a different character, feels so much "taughter"

I may be swaying to the popular opinion that this is the best mod you can do, it seems to have made more difference than the springs alone did to the standard car..

again, i will finish the thread after castle coombe :)

You do realise that with your modifications you will need to carry a weight penalty when competing on the track events, I would say you now have an unfair advantage  not sure what your weight penalty should be though, maybe a big dog in the boot.

As at How Fast, I had braking advantages  :giggle:  and it showed, hope to see just how trick your car is now with this mod at CC, I will not be on track at CC but will have a Yeti on the club stand, I might even wash it lol..

you are welcome to join me for a passenger ride :)

and how big a dog? are we talking alsatian or Great Dane?! lol....

I suppose I will be the weight penalty if I join you!!  :wonder:

I am sure I will take a seat with you at Oulton Park, I am going to have a go at photographs at CC, might even fit the roof bars on the Yeti with a flat board on so I can stand on the roof to get shots along the fast straight behind the club stand.

ARBs have always been the best bang for buck chassis mod IMO.  I literally cant think of a downside to them.  The biggest improvement you will see when you go to a trackday and take a chicane.

I even rated the poly bushes as more of an improvment than the springs, they also dont have any downside to them either IMO.

Springs on the other hand make it look lower (Good) but also make the ride ever sol slightly worse, not by a huge amount, but its still a slight negative i gues.  And the improvement wasnt as noticeable as with the other two mods.

Nice to see you got it fitted ok and are seeing the benefits. Will be great to see how well it does at Combe :)

Do you mind if I ask where you sourced this?

My searches keep bringing up the front sway bar only, leaving me with just the whiteline as an option.

I posted in the wanted section, and a nice member obliged, they are available from H&R , if course!

Larkspeed stock H&R and usually offer good prices, not sure about resident forum sponsors..

Thanks chaps
