Reverse sensor checks question

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I think I have mentioned before about this however still no joy. I got the code G205 mid right rear sensor fault on my Octy 2 vRS so replaced with same sensor ( part number cross checked) and fitted, wouldn't work after fitting.

I was told about the checking the loom so got back on with VCDS and found, according to it that all four sensors were getting 12.20v more or less. Now questions are, do these systems need to be reset or sensors added to make them work after replacing parts? And what other checks/things to look for regarding tracing the fault with this sensor using VCDS?

Having just returned from a 2 week holiday(sat on drive for duration), the missus went out in it yesterday and when she came back to put it on the drive no reverse lights, however they were working when I have done the checks previously.

Sensors are factory fit and car has Coloumbus head unit so I assume at some point it displayed picture of car on the display?

Any help appreciated as always

Steve

Are there any other faults on vcds?

Its quite common for the reverse light switch to fail or the wiring to it to break and the fact you now have no reverse lights possibly points to this. Its under the airbox so a bit fiddly to get at but fairly easy to change or fix the wiring. However, all four sensors would fail if that was the case so it would be coincidental to your original fault I'd say.

If the wire is breaking but not yet through it might cause intermittent issues with the sensors and reverse lights I guess.

As to the Columbus and sensors, it will depend on the age of the car and the parking sensor controller. My pre-fl 2008 had no image on the Columbus until I upgraded the controller and changed some wiring. See here

Hope that helps

Adam,

Thanks for the reply and yes it was useful thank you. I will be checking the reverse light switch later and all necessary fuses etc to get to the cause of no reverse lights, then I will worry about the parking sensors a bit later.

Cheers again

Steve

Good luck with that. Let us know how you get on.
