Changing gearbox oil on 1.8tsi

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how many litres of gearbox oil the manual gearbox on a 1.8TSI (BZB) Octavia takes?

I'm experiencing stiff, notchy gearchanges, and have already tried cleaning up the linkage.  Other threads suggested people had noticed a big improvement with the replacement of the gearbox oil.

Any further pointers would also be appreciated.

2.4 on my 09 six speed    if you use ramps just measure it back in as it won't "flow" out (tilted back)   mine had done only 20k but whilst there was a lack of expected bronze chips and all the steel still in there on the magnet,   I was surprised how "burnt" it looked  -- mostly motorway miles

Ah cheers.

Did you use the proper VAG oil, & if so how much did you get it for, and where?

My local dealers have quoted me at £17 per litre...

"the proper oil"   seems to be whatever "theman" says it is    the price from one to another seems to vary widely   I paid £18+ for two ltrs +1.5 coolant and 2 weeks later paid nearly £10 for one ltr of the same at the same garage      I'm so fed up with their crappy system I won't use VAG oil again whatever people say on here and will stick with Fuchs  who actually know what they're doing
