R32 VRS

Recommended Posts

Sounds like poop as would of ruined the handling with that boat anchor over the front end

R32 engines are aluminium blocks, doesn't weigh a lot more than a 1.8T.

I'd have one over a 1.8T.

I thought they were cast blocks with Aluminium heads?

On a side note they are very strong engines with quite advanced oil feeds, easily tunable to high bhp on the stock bottom ends within reason.

Might be the case but I'm sure that its mostly Ali, short answer is for V6 it doesn't weigh a great deal. My VR6 in comparison is hugely fat.

I know only one head, I have one, it is a MK 4 V6, which are all VR's even the 3.2 Phaeton has a VR engine, in fact I don't think VAG do a true "V" engine do they?

I have been at the garage this morning and there was a W8 Passat in for a service, this engine is very compact for an 8 cylinder.
