VCDS help Gloucestershire - MFD to speedo

Featured Replies

Hi All

I would REALLY like to switch the MFD to the large MPH speed display that can be done through the software - is there anyone local to me in the Forest of Dean or Gloucester part of the world who could help, or who could suggest a good place to take the car to get it done?

On my old audi you could just choose it as an option in the menus, such a shame it is so complicated on the skoda

Thanks

Matt

Am in Newport if your ever down this way

You might know or might not, It needs to be set to Australian

Don't forget to turn it up side down or it won't work

I'm near Hereford (Bromyard) but am lacking a Windows laptop at the moment (it died!)

If you have a Win laptop and can download the software (I can send link and its free and legal) then I don't mind helping you do this.

I've done it once already successfully.

Having been speaking to KB who kindly offered to do this for me, and looking at what can be done with it I have decided that with a couple of VAG cars in the family it will be worth getting my own VCDS.

Do I assume the £60 cables on ebay are knock-offs with pirated software, and that the only way to go is to bite the bullet and get the proper kit from Ross-Tech?

Yes. Fixed just to the software they supply. No updates. No support.

Not worth it.

I know Ross Tech ones are 'expensive', but mine has paid for itself many times over without having to go to the dealers for stuff.

I got mine to work by un ticking the alt speed in the settings on the MFD (one that shows kmh in bottom). This then put the digital speed option into the MFD list of options in the MFD settings it will show and I just clicked it. Done.

Trouble is I want large KMH as abroad for a couple of years. Not mph

pmdc199: As I said above, Km/h should be standard in the UK. There is another setting to untick/tick to get rid of the mph display and replace it with Km/h. It's in the Maxidot somewhere.

It's that somewhere I can't find lol
