  • Ron Dennis back!

Leaving PDR out in the states or somewhere Indycar related....like JPM when he got the boot from Williams.

All they need is a engine now :D I'm assuming it'll be renault but not confirmed. At least they'll be on the grid, I'm assuming the Quantum deal hasnt happened.

Lotus is basically the Renault F1 team, isnt it? I thought Lotus was just the name sponsor. Kimi said on TopGear a couple of years ago that Lotus is built by Renault. Correct me if that isnt the case.

As far as i remember, Montoya last raced with Mclaren. He left F1 by choice. I remember him saying that F1 was much about pitstops and strategy and less about pure racing. He went to USA in search of driver-focussed racing.

I do not know to what extent this is true but there are reports on the internet stating that, after Maladano's Lotus deal got confirmed, Hulkenberg approached Sauber for a contract but was shown the door.

Here's one such report. http://msn.foxsports.com/speed/formula-1/f1-nico-hulkenberg-set-for-force-india-after-sauber-exit/

Seems as if Force India is his only hope now. Will be a real shame if he doesn't make it.

Genii capital, a investments company own them now.

I don't quite understand it but from what I recall, the Lotus Renault team were the factory team but now it's Red Bull who are sort of the factory Renault team at least the deal they get from Renault anyway.  Could be talking rubbish.

I agree about Montoya, my recollection was he'd left F1 by choice.

Total sponsored Lotus' next year I believe.

Rumours that Wee Paul might be getting cousin Dario's seat.

Now that Perez has officially been signed by Force India, leaving Paul di Resta unlikely to drive in F1 next year, the question is will PdR be missed?

He doesn't seem to have progressed much in 3 years, especially seeing he's had the stability of driving for the same team.

It seems that his lack of "star" appeal hasn't helped his case either, nor his attitude.

Personally, I'm not going to miss him, but what do others think?

I will miss him. Less British drivers on the grid is always a bad thing in my opinion.

But, you're right, he doesn't really have star appeal. Would have liked to see him get a shot in a bigger team though. He's consistent, with the right car under him, he could have racked up some good points.

Im past caring now with this stupid double points for last race of season anouncement i wont be watching as much next year i will stick to MotoGP. At least paul can say he exited the sport just before it lost all credibility.

I really can't see the whole double points crap going ahead! No fan or driver wants it.

Remember the idea of medals replacing points a few years ago? That fizzled out, thank god, and it wasn't even as bad an idea as this!

Bernie wants it that poison dwarf will have it as his swan song on his exit i can assure you.

I hope it doesn't come to double points wtf ! I understand it will make them race till the last race but surely the manufacturers won't allow it to happen ?

Don't think PdR will be missed at all - doesn't appear to have killer instinct and agreed he hasn't progressed much.

Ludicrous idea IMO - Bernie has single handily brought F1 down and is now inviting new manufacturers for 2015 & 2016. Would you want to race in this series? Will end up like WRC.

I understand Bernie made f1 what it is today but for some reason he's got a death wish ? He needs to pass the mantel to someone else !

While I don't think the double points will happen, I did have a similar thought to you when it was mentioned in that I just didn't care as this year has just been so dull in the F1 while there's been some fantastic races in MotoGP.  It's so refreshing not having DRS, KERS, mandatory pit stops (apart from the ridiculous race in Australia), useless tyres and no downforce allowing the bikes to race very close to each other.

While it's always good to see British drivers in F1 I'll admit I'm not that bothered about Paul Di Resta being in or out, unfortunately he's not really featured much at all in races this year.

So the line up is getting closer to completion following Perez signing for Force India but where does that leave Sutil. He has been saying that his 2014 F1 future is complete but hasn't revealed where.

These drivers have yet to sign a deal or at least be announced: Gutierrez, Chilton, Van Der Garde, Sutil, and Di Resta

To fit into 4 seats across Sauber (x2), Marussia (x1 - Bianchi confirmed), Caterham (x1 - Pic confirmed)

By my poor maths - 5 into 4 doesn't go! Plus there is also Kovalainen to consider who came in for Kimi for the last 2 races.

I reckon Sauber will be Gutierrez and Sutil; Marussia will be Bianchi and Chilton with Caterham as Van Der Garde and Kovalainen.

Di Resta to Endurance, Indy Car or Touring Cars (WTC or DTM perhaps?)

I'd like to see PDR in BTCC.

Who Pedro De la Rossa? :giggle:

^^^

That would be cool. Won't happen though, too early in his career. I reckon a return to DTM is most likely.

Paul Di Resta is heading to German Touring Cars I reckon...  I think it will be a big loss for F1 as, although he wasn't one of the best drivers, He certainly made it worth watching.
