1st free service for my Blackline VRS......

Featured Replies

Booked into Derek Slacks in the morning......

Totally cleaned the car from top to bottom, good detail and polish.

I normally do this as I always ask the service manager to come and view the car before before work commences incase any damage is done under their care. I find a clean, easy to view sparkling car gives a garage no get out in terms of trying to say damage was there already. Even so I'm still panicking about the service. I HATE leaving my cars with a garage. My Blackline has clocked just 9000 in 11 months, and is like new!

Hope they look after it.

Make sure you ask them not to clean it after the service!

Local garage here puts them through an autocar wash eek!

Yeah, I will ask them to not wash it. Car washes are a huge no no, but I don't like the thought of a numpty valeter with a jet-gun either. High pressure water and headlight seals don't mix!

Off to Slacks in the morning to pick up my 63 plate Fabia :-)

won't be long until my Blackline is due it's 1st service, do Skoda get in touch or do you have to arrange the service yourself? I also don't want anybody to clean my car!! it's 10 months old now and 3400 on clock :)

I contacted Derek Slacks as my car has been reminding me via a countdown on my computer that my service is due.....now needed in 100 miles.

Picking mine up at 11am, then off for a long spin!

Just checked the oil this morning on the Octavia, kicking myself now that I didn't check it before I left the garage after its first free service.

The oil is as black now as it was before, and VERY little miles have been done. I'm wondering if the oil/filter were actually changed at all? Anyone have similar experience on this? Or am I just being paranoid?

Is it a derv? Does the filter look dirty?

Yes it's derv, but can't see the filter anywhere through the mass of engine pipes/covers?

According to his info its a Blackline, so yes a derv. Oil will go instantly black the moment a diesel is driven after an oil change.  Filter should look nice and clean though.

you have to arrange it yourself. if you look through the menu in maxidot you'll be able to see if it's either been changed to fixed on the pdi or if its still on the variable factory default setting so you'll at least know if you can expect to see the light come on. I'll be having the same don't touch conversation. in fact i'll probably give it its 6 month clean and rewax before it goes in so its all sparkly... 3400 miles. makes mine look high milage at just over 5k!

Same as you - they know at my dealer not to wash my car and I always confirm that it is on the job card when I take it in. No different to when I had an Audi or VW.

The guys no matter how good they are aren't able (due to the number that they do in a day) to be as careful as you are washing your own car.

If its free, it will be on fixed.
