Warning to those who post about breaking speed limits etc.

Featured Replies

Not so good :(

Was amazed by the thread on here with the Lambo in it, as one of our members (who is a jolly nice policeman) pointed out a video like that is admissable.

It is something to be aware of however should you find yourself in that position I wouldn't have thought a screen dump of a forum posting to be sufficient evidence for a prosecution unless you reach for the sky and admit it.

All you would say is it's a load of bo11ox, I made it up to impress people.

Hence "on private roads" etc etc... I know we have problems sometimes with gatherings down here locally. No-one goes out to break the law at all, but the police seem to find out about them easily enough and literally swoop down like vultures looking to nab as many people for whatever they can.

Found this through ScoobyNet. Perhaps a suitable warning to those who like to say how fast they've been and where they did it etc.

Thats Scary, the police never pay anyone a visit when they say theyve had their stereo nicked tho.

but certainly that is a lesson to be learned,

Since its being mentioned i drove the 50 miles to work today at 1mph under the speed limit mr officer, and i have tax, insurance and legal tyres.

OMG HOW RECKLESS

Don't think it would be possible to prosecute on speeding this way - unless there was more concrete evidence like a video etc.

Seems this bloke is really being done on the "perverting the course of justice" aspect as he has written that he took the points for his son when his son was speeding. I still reckon, even in this case, they could have difficulty trying to convict on the basis of a statement on the internet - could still argue that the post was just angry bull.

I cant see how it could go to court tbh. Are the police that stupid that they cant see that most posts are to be taken with a "pinch of salt".

Nice to see they are wasting good man power as usual.

In that case i done 31 in a 30, but only for a second ;)

So thats why we've had so many extra visitors, they've all come from RaeC's incident!

:orb_no_no :orb_bonk: Stone him, Stone him! ;) Lucky you were joking there!

It's why I'm a lot more cautious these days - I've had high speeds on the clock, but as I've mentioned elsewhere that was on a private road (for real). I had to stop doing that too though as I no longer work there and I felt it was inappropriate to take advantage of it any longer.

I doubt a screen dump would be sufficient evidence.... he could just say, I didn't write that!, or I was lying ect.......

Could have said that. But now there's another thread where they are admitting they did it.

Best bet would have been to deny it ever happening, and say it was a Photoshop fake, seeing as they have mentioned the original thread has been deleted and doesn't exist anymore.

Frankly the guy seems a nob. "I took the ticket, as it's only points!" Only points?

They guy is not being done for speeding, but for lieing about who was driving, and this is a very serious offence. Deserves all he gets IMHO.

If you leave yourself logged onto the site, or go away for a few minutes, somone could quite easily post a thread on your behalf :(

Realistically , what could they do other than look at the damage?

IT's a bit daft to post on the net that you've been lying about who was driving though

I'd tend to agree - posting the likes of "I overtook a Ferrari in my Fabia VRS on the M1 and left him for dead" :peepwall: is a different matter to admitting to attempting to pervert the course of justice. The former could be (probably is) bullcack, the latter is probably a provable fact.

I've overtaken many a sportscar in my Fab vRS - admittedly they were driving slowly though

Video evidence of said Fabia on the M1 could be a different matter though ;)

"Did I mention the Porsche 996 that I passed at 155 on the M9 last week? I don't normally drive that fast but had had 14 pints of Stella for lunch that day and didn't care. I am a superstar  "

Er, no. I don't race Porsches, don't drive at that speed and definately don't drive if I've had any alcohol at all. But there are nobheads on other forums (NOT Briskoda) who post the likes of the above. And they wonder why they sometimes get caught out?

I'd like to see the prosecution prove beyond reasonable doubt that he did post that message.

"Mr Webmaster, can you guarantee 100% that the forum software has not been hacked?"

"No, your honour."

"Is it possible, therefore, that someone may have hacked the forum and added a message under the guise of the accused, purporting to be him?"

"It is possible, your honour"

"Case dismissed."

Nice Guy Mike

In my post I was taking the mickey too ;)

As said - driven past many a Porsche, Ferrari and Scoob - quite easy when they are doing 60mph on a motorway that :P

As for racing on the public road - as much as I'd admit I'd love to have a go sometimes - I just don't bother. It's a waste of fuel, tyres, and time.

Generally speaking (again) that's what tracks and private events are for. That way it's safe, fun for everyone, including the police, and you couldn't accidentally run into an innocent person who is drifting into say the overtaking lane without looking...

Let's face it - most cars would be pretty much blown away by ANY Ferrari of modern days, and so on ;)

Its irrelevant.. as nobody could use any kind of forum post as evidence on its own.

That is why i feel completely safe stating that i returned a car of mine to the dealer after a run down the M6 and the dealer on downloading the ecu confirmed to me that the maximum speed recorded for that vehicle was 203mph.

This as written above is the absolute truth. However as there is no indication of vehicle/ date / time / witness / speedometer accuracy / who actually typed it on the board it is totally worthless without calibrated photographic evidence. Which does not exist.

How about the guy who checked the ECU pointing at you saying "It woz him, Guv", "It wos him wot did 203mph in that car"? Combined with the post here and any relevant paperwork at the dealer?
