Angel Eyes?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if there are any UK suppliers of "angel eye" headlights for the 1U?

I've found a Ukrainian supplier... http://auto-light.com.ua/shop/65/desc/angel-eyes-skoda-octavia-tour which is annoying.

A few people have DIY'd OEM HID lamps...

...but there's no way I'm spending all that money on HID lamps, only to take them apart! That would require huge cojones!

For the life of me I can't find any... anywhere! I'm thinking of a DIY job, but on the standard headlights (non-HID) it'd be really difficult :(

Some of the European ones may have a metal plate which can be flipped to make the light pattern correct.

So where the EU pattern is like this

__/ __/

It may be possible to flip it to this

dremmel kit for that :D already done it with fabia ones

Why put angel eyes on anything that's not a BMW?

Problem is, I can't find any European ones either. I've trawled German eBay for months now and can't find any :(

Because they look awesome and look different to the norm.

Not to mention how awesome they look at night!

I can sell you a set of OEM xenons, they may not look that much different, but at least you will be able to see where you are going

just an idea, what about sourcing 3 series angel eyes and chopping them up to fit inside the octavia lense?  im sure there a couple of handy fellas on here would be well able to do it?

Well I thought about doing that, but the problem comes down to fitting them properly. The standard (H4) lights are a bit harder to work with than the HIDs. First there's this...

...and even if you did manage to glue the angel eye to the bulb surround, it looks a bit wonky donkey...

God these Skodas are a nightmare!

That just looks awful.

i meant cut the complete skoda light out and replace the twin round 3 series one behind the octavia lense,  if ya know what im trying to say...

The Octy lens wouldn't fit over the 3-series lights - that would require severe plastic surgery... on a Michael Jackson scale.

The only way to make something like that work would be to build your own lights, with the backing (white plastic case) and lens of the Octy lights.

no question it would be a load of work, i want to try it now... :D    anyone want to finance my urges. :P

I have a set of complete left and right headlights coming up for sale soon if you fancy a go lol

i was with ya there till ya said the "for sale" bit.. :D   couldnt buy a picture of lights at the minute, im in finacial ruin!!!!

I'd love to have a go at making my own lights too, but I'd be too frightened because of alignment, beam pattern, etc. All that hard work only to find at the MOT that your new lights are dangerous or not working effectively :(

an MOT is only a technicality..  ...  do it ya know ya want to..

makes me wanna rip my depo ones apart and do it

Not risking anything like that - the lights on the Octy are bad enough without me making them worse. Plus, I don't want to give any traffic cops an excuse to PG9 me :|

I might have a go a modifying a set of lights, but would never touch the main bulbs.

ah its not that much of a fine art,  worked in a coach building factory for a couple of years, they were goin to use 2002 3 series lights on one of the new busses, fella doing the moulds for it is a very clever man, but hadnt a clue about the direction the lights were supposed to point, they would have been cross eyed if he had carried on, i told him that they wouldnt work like that, he didnt say much, next day they had swapped the lights back to the original ones.. :D    i felt right and clever that day.. :D  but i broke and messed up a heap of things after just to keep everything in kilter.. :D
