Exhaust Query

Featured Replies

I listened to a review of the Octavia on youtube, the reviewer stated that only one the exhausts is used and the other is pretend / pseudo... Can anyone with an Octavia VRS confirm, and is this true for both diesel and petrol?

Long thread(s) on here about it if you search around. Upshot is that only the petroi vRS and 1.8TSi has genuine twin (each side of car) exhaust outlets. The diesel vRS is just a piece of cosmetic trim.

Thanks - sorry for not looking first.... I have petrol on order so things are good (until it comes to replace)!

Hopefully someone will do a replacement bit of bumper for the fake one or an exhaust mod to allow both to be used for the TDI - it is a shame really....

I see someone posted pics of the diesel exhaust but no pic for the petrol... Does it have a single exhaust each side hiding behind the scenes?

But even on the petrol it's still just a bit of trim only there's a normal tail pipe behind each one

Check out this 1.8 TSI 4x4 thread, it shows the dual pipes, not vRS I know but you get the idea.

yes

I was thinking about that when the whole debate started and then completely randomly and unrelated, I watched a couple of videos about the Audi RS7 and RS6... and what do you know? They have the same (almost) style of fancy large decorative exhausts with the real normal steel exhaust pipes just behind.

Point is, if Audi gets away with it on their biggest RS models, I think we should keep calm about Skoda doing the same on their Octavia VRS! :)
