it was time to do something with the amp...which was quite a problem- when i discovered that the amp is too big(high) to fit under the drivers seat and i wanted to be somewhere that wouldnt be in-the-way....so i had just one choice left...to put it in the arm rest box on the rear seats.

first took sits out of the car (before i found out that the amp is too big :D )

img20130912173200.jpg

then took the box of arm rest out and put in the amp...

now it looks like this

  • 2 weeks later...

Interesting setup there :) Not sure Id go for it though. Whats the spec of the amp and sub?

I kinda go monster on mine (2x16"s)! I like this idea of having a backup sub in the back end as it saves boot space. But I always thought boot space was for subs, lol ;)

How does it sound? Ive always thought having a sub on one side would make the sound be a bit off-balance? Mine are in the middle and you get a nice all round sound. As youve gone for NOT having the amp opposite, maybe you could go for another sub and have the stereo effect? Do you bridge the amp for 1 mono channel?

Im not dissing your setup, just never run one like that and ive had a lot! Any info on how it sounds would be good as I think I could use that as a backup for when I remove my 'quick-release' box ;)

@Cass1977

spec of amp:

- 4 x 60w RMS @ 4 Ohms

- 4 x 85w RMS @ 2 Ohms
- 2 x 160w RMS @ 4 Ohms bridged
- Variable High pass crossover 50Hz to 250Hz range
- Variable Low pass crossover 50Hz to 250Hz range
- 0/+6/+12dB Bass Boost @ 60Hz
- Adjustable input sensitivity: 0.3V to 8V
- Frequency response 10Hz to 25kHz
- Signal to Noise Ratio >90dB

wiried: front pair of speakers on 2 channels and sub on 2 channels(bridge mode)

I cant hear the differencee of sound....it actually sounds realy good!

The idea was not haveing any thing in booth...becouse i own 2 dogs and dogs in combination with wires are not best combo! :D offcorus the sub IS OFF when transfering dogs

I could go for another sub on the other side but then i have to buy another amp!.....maybe someday....plan is to make duble bottom in the booth and put the amp and all the wires there to have all organised well

@RobClubley- as you said bass is omnidirectional at 200Hz for human ears
