The end of the VRS

Yes there is a long thread on them not going to do a vRS version of the Mk3 Fabia.

After Top Gear had an interview with the VW CEO.

Odd that now this article says, "He refused to rule it out."

(Dr Frank Welsch, Skoda) Head of Development, not the VW CEO from the Top Gear article.

So as some of us suspected, 'Spin, hedge our bets, and lets see if there is interest'..

No word on when they intend to stop production on the mk2 vRS or the 3 other 180ps Twinchargers that have sold lots less cars than the Skoda.

(they always mention the Seat & VW sister models, its odd how the A1 185ps with DSG that sold hardly any gets missed out.)

Audi S1 to come soon and it may be a Quattro and the stuff they seem to be leaking is 2 litre 200bhp+,

but who knows it could be a 1.6 turbo.

Going to be 25K + probably, so it will be interesting to see what and how many of them sell in the UK.

Sounds like it could be fun, but £25k for a Polo chassis on steroids? You can get a Golf GTi/GTD for that.

Why mention or call it a Polo Chassis, the A1 now is a A1 Chassis, so common chassis are common.

so like everything with VAG it needs to actually arrive before you ever know what they are going to sell.

A new Golf R with AWD is not going to be £25,000.

Or a Seat Leon Cupra R.

Maybe a Polo R, 'Proper R', AWD, not just Trim line will be £25,000+.

Funnily as of now, you can go to buy models they are building, and not know what you are about to get.

They seem to lose things in Translation.

Just simple things like ,Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Trim, Steering Wheels,Steering wheel controls, Maxi Dot, ESP etc etc.

Just not very good with Internet or Web sites or Configurators when it involves using English.

Fair point, it's probably more accurate to call it a shared 'platform' rather than chassis as the configurations can be quite different between models.  Still, £25k ... hmm. Not sure what to make of that. I'd have to drive one :)
