Will a Bolero stereo work in octavia vrs 2006? Mk11

Featured Replies

Can this be fitted easily or would it need re wiring or is wiring loom the same please ?

Will it fit in the hole pls.

Anyone done this upgrade please?

I take it you currently have the Stream HU? I'm fairly sure the Bolero will fit in, but not sure if the trim surround is the same.

No someone asked me and I was not sure but said I knew lots if clever people on here.

The Bolero will fit no problems, it's the same shape as the Stream. You'll need a newer can gateway to prevent battery drain issues and an aerial adaptor . Other than that its plug and play.

You'll prob need a new can bus. Speak to Eddie-NL

Something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAKRA-MFD3-RNS-RCD-510-310-315-210-Radio-Antenna-Aerial-Adapter-VW-Seat-Skoda-/261101114921?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET&hash=item3ccad6d629] as it has a dual connection on the Bolero and a coded gateway.

I got mine from Eddie NL on here, really nice bloke

Surround the same and nothing else needed. You do need to bare in mind that the screen is quite dim until you put on your lights

It also depends on the Bolero unit (there were two different manufacturers). I know Zeff has been able to flick his lights on and it makes the screen brighter - that never worked for me and it was bordering on unsafe to use in the daylight as the screen was that dim. Spent ages looking into ways of making it work and gave up and bought a Columbus which (for ~£300) was the best money I've spent on the car. Works perfectly and has the added bonus of the sat nav, hard drive etc.

Just last week fitted one in my car.  I was on here asking for all the relevent info and with all the help made the job pretty simple.

Hardest job was getting wiper blades off the car to get to the place to swap the CAN Gateweay Unit.  however You should be lucky and your unit stored behind the glovebox if i am right.

As the guys said above Eddie NL for the can gateway.

My bolero was made in 2012 and seems to be fine in my 07 plate.  the display is sometimes dim but you can flick the sidelights on and off quick and it brightens up the display.  Little price to pay for such an upgrade.  Its miles ahead of the stream unit.

This thread i started when considering doing this job may be of some help.  Lots of good replies etc
