What firmware do I need?

Featured Replies

I am going to update the maps to v9 (7918) on my Columbus but will need to update the firmware first as I have an older unit with a 30gb 2 partition disk.

I have a copy of ver 4020 but I don't know if that is too recent for my unit. Not sure what revision Columbus I have but have attached the screen shots of the setup screen.

Can someone advise the latest 'safe' firmware I could use

Thanks

Martin

4020 should be fine.

Yours shows the same part number as mine and I'm on 4020 without issue.

  Thanks

Check my-GTI.com as I thought you needed to repartition with 38XX before 4XXX?

Also don't you need Josi modified for a revision A

No need for a modified firmware. I've help several people (including myself) go from 3T0...A units to 4020.

The confusion comes over the part number suffix and the revision letter. 3T0...A is actually a 'C' revision, which explains why it works without modified software.

I went to 38xx first because that was the best available at the time, then went to 4020.

I've have supplied firmware to several people with 3T0...A units to go from 2xxx or even 1xxx firmware straight to 4020. This is the firmware linked to on the My Gti website. Nothing special.

It will wipe your maps and music as it creates three partitions, so make sure you have backups.

I believe 5xxx firmware is available and have links to files modified by Josi (so reliable), but I prefer my firmware to be unmodified and full releases (not beta) do will be sticking with 4020 unless there is compelling reason to upgrade again.

Plus its too stressful watching the progress bar stall...

Thanks KBPhoto

I have a copy (link from another member) of 4020 so will be upgrading from my current 2760 before installing the maps. So far I have not saved any music to HD as it is all on SD so all I should lose is my saved locations in the sat nav. If it all goes pear shaped I have the disks for my current setup so can always go back to that.

Goo luck. Let us know how you get on. But don't panic if your unit doesn't like the CD/DVD you have.
