SD Card 1 doesn't work + Load bang from speakers after unlocking

Featured Replies

Not related to my "Exhaust Inspection System" warning light thread, but dealt with at the same time.

I reported 2 new faults:

  • SD Card 1 has never worked - when looking at the source selection screen (Columbus), SD1 is greyed out while SD2 is fine

  • When I unlock the car (KESSY), a few seconds later, there is a "bang" from the hifi speakers as if a current had been applied to the terminals.  Happens roughly 50% of the time, regardless of whether I have opened the boot or the driver's door.

Two weeks ago they looked at these issues and didn't know what the problem was.  They thought that disconnecting the battery might help - it didn't fix either problem.

Yesterday they said that they had done some more investigation and would have to order a media controller at a cost of £2000.  I think this is probably the brains behind pretty much everything in the centre console!

ouch!! £2k.... hope your dealer can fix this promptly or you might have to threaten them with the Sale of Goods Act and demand a new car.....

Probably a bit late for that and ones perspective is a little different when it is a company car...  And these two faults are minor annoyances in the grand scheme of things.

Its probably the unit in the glovebox that is faulty, i believe the thing that takes the discs and SD cards is effectively the head unit, the screen is just a touchscreen display.
