CitiGo and Super unleaded

Featured Replies

Is there any benefit from putting Super Unleaded in a CitiGo Elegence 75

Sainsbury's Super unleaded ( 97Ron ) is only 4p a litre more than the standard stuff ( 95 Ron ) so a Tank full is an extra £1:20ish

Is it worth £1:20ish ?

Doubt it, but give it a try and see.

Don't forget, if you do this try and get the tank as low as possible before changing grade. This way, if there is going to be any benefit from the higher octane fuel it will be identifiable from an earlier point in time.

You may find it has crisper throttle response when the really cold weather comes.  All relative though bearing in mind the size of engine and bhp.  We always use 98ron in our Octavia 1.8TSi and that definately runs better and smoother.  You may find benefit with different petrol manufacturers, I like Shell and BP comes highly regarded.  Other Skoda owners of different models like the 99ron Tesco, not tried it myself.

The PID said 5 miles left the I stuck a tank of Sainsbury's finest, 97 Ron

hey Andy ;) it recommends super, and we have done 2 really long runs down south, one to Gilly on 95, and one to cornwall on 97....... there was NO difference in fuel economy, and NO difference in power (60 ps) ...

in my vRS its 4mpg better on super (required rather than recommended and you can actually feel the difference...)  so no more "expensive" with the extra MPG.....

BUT with the citygo we have not found any nocicable diffenece, tests done by same driver (me) at same speeds and conditions, over approx 1,000 miles.....

only thing I can think of to benifit is the extra detergents ect to keep the engine clean, but as Ash's citygo wont crack 30k in 3 years, I'm not overly worried about engine wear ;)

Shark.

Oh and sainsburys? there super is cheap, and my vRS LOVES it :)

Just to add, it's nice when a Tank full is only 35 litres and you get Brazzillion miles

I've found my vRS only likes VPower and Momentum. Coming back from Goodwood and low on fuel I put whatever BP's one is. Didn't get much for my money and didn't last long either.

I don't think you'd notice any difference in a CitiGo. The Swift gets a tank now and again but I hardly notice a difference

I might give some of that Shell Nitro a go. I know the Octavia loved it :)

I always ran my Citigo on V Power...

The first time i filled the tank i used Vpower, but since then I havent. Im not sure how much of a change it would be but when i had the whistle coming from my engine, i was scouting about and found the inside of the Throttle body was already coated in Carbon.

That was at 8000 miles. so perhaps VPower wont leave as much carbon deposits. That said with the exception to the last two tanks of petrol I have religously used Shell Regular Fuel save, although i dont think there is any difference between Shell 95 Octane and any other 95 octane.

Wasn't your Citigo a wee bit faster than most? Lol...

No, it was standard. Elegance 75.

It the project one that'll be a bit nippier.

The higher the state of tune of the engine, the better the benefits.  My previous car (Scirocco  1.4 twincharger) and the Fabia vRS both did/do much more to the gallon (6-10% more) as well as driving much better.  Not sure the Citigo will show any benefits but worth a punt.  Can you tell if you get a 3% increase in economy?  The weather will probably have more effect..

might make my first tank super unleaded.... on speed gains, is it true that sports stripes, spoilers and baked been cans on the exhaust all make a car accelerate quicker?

the local young lads (all with small engine 206, saxo and fiestas) told me it does?

Nothing wrong with stripes :p :D

Down in our neck of the woods Shell fuel is back to regular rather than Fuel Save. Apparently there has been no fuel save in the south east since Corriton Refinery closed down
