  • Interest registered here. The last trips I organised some time ago, we rented out villas at the nearby Sunparks which worked out cheap cheap self catering for everyone.

We stayed at the hotel fuchsrohre (likely spelt wrong) who is an excellent host and very good for Ring fans.   Nice PS3 setup there too for multiplayer

Don't do what they guy in the red evo did at Adenau bridge last Sunday!

Driven the swifts many times and they are brilliant!

Cant make my mind up who was the bigest ****, the  guy in the Evo or the Leon, I have been once and only got half way round when someone was killed

The guy in the Evo is the total knob . You'd be lucky to see any yellow warning flags as no Marshall's there and Mr Leon didn't expect an oil slick on a heavy braking zone.

Mr Evo broke all the rules after his engine blew. If he'd parked safely and warned other drivers with a yellow flag ( I wave a high vis vest a friend waves his yellow micro fibre duster lol) it would of ened much better.

I would say the above might not be helping drum up numbers. ;)

I am interested in probably a week long excursion to Germany to take in the Ring and the surroundings in 2014.   :)   I drove 470 miles today which is about the journey to the Ring anyway :D

The danger makes it exiting! Just waiting for dates and I'll be up for it!

Has a 2014 TF calendar been released yet?  Even in draft form?

Don't think so. Usually January?

The 24hr race is on from 16/6/14 -22/6/14 ( would be rude to mis that one) so defiantly not open then.

It will be open every evening even after VLN races so you'd be unlucky to find no TF if you were over there for a few days.

4 laps will be 97€ btw.

For €329 you can rent a stage 2 swift which is a right laugh to drive. That includes 4 laps and fuel. Most importantly your fully insured !

You can rest assured you'll be driving home in your own car not flying home like I once did and Jason did lol !

Defintely up for this. I don't know whether i'd take my own car round or hire one though.

The excess on most of the rental cars is upto €5000! My own car probably isn't worth that much!

and Jason did lol !

I actually got a lift back to Heathrow and caught a coach back to Devon.  :P

Luckily I was with another big group so wasn't a hardship to get a lift back to old Blighty :D

  • 5 weeks later...

I know the dates have not been released yet but what is the general cenus of possible dates, or at least month?

I could be tempted.

Dates etc depending.

Phil

Registering my interest, always wanted to go and was planning a trip sometime this year regardless. During the Easter break would be perfect for me, let us know the dates once they're announced :)

Due to having to book my hols in advance I've just booked my first ring trip of 2014 for May 16th to may 19th. Will be going via Hull-Rotterdam. If anyone else is over the same time it would be good to meet up!

If my new vrs has arrived by then I would definitely be up for this. Been 4 times now and I love the place, just a shame the prices keep going up.

here is a little video of my last trip! Oops. I was rather tired and had just driven from Austria.

Holy mosses! That was close. ! Brunchen 2 is a classic place for an accident. Looks like the guy who filmed that spends all his spare time filming from that spot as he has hrs of accidents on his you tube site.

Yea he always seems to be there, had a little walk over to him later on but he had gone.

makes me take the corner differently now though.

Well held! lol

Some more video from the man at Brunchen 2 . Just shows you what can happen out there and hopefully educate people on how not to do it.

Will try and find another short clip of what happens when you go to fast in your mums honda CRV

The Honda CRV clip. No one died or was seriously injured but nasty. Also looks like most of the weekly shop fell out of the car!

Do you pay in advance for this?  I ask because I work for a German company and some of my colleagues seem to think the RING is on the edge of bankruptcy and may close. I guess this is why the prices keep going up.

I hope it doesn't happen and that you all have a good time and bring it home in one piece.  Too much on this year for me to think about playing in Europe.

When you turn up you can either go to the ticket office or the petrol station and buy the tickets. Its just a pre-loaded card like you use to get in an office. Swipe it at the barrier and it lets you onto the track and tells you how many are left on the card.

it works out far quicker getting it from the petrol station.

there has been talk of them going bankrupt for years now, the company that owns it lied about visitor numbers to build a massive development at the gp track. The hotel, shopping centre and everything else they built doesnt make enough money and has killed it.

This exactly what my German colleagues said, it is owned by a Capital Investment company that is trying to shift it on but nobody will pay enough to cover the investment made for the shops, hotels and theme park. If this has been going on for years I am sure things will remain as they are.

All the usual events are still scheduled to go ahead as normal such as the 24hrs so pretty sure it will still be operating for a while yet.

A true petrol / diesel heads must do at least once thing so get over there!
