I am going 2nd - 5th May, looking forward to it, even if I am scared about the whole no insurance thing.

  • I've just sugested that on the prague thread, we did it successfully last year, why not spend the weekend at the ring on the way back? we are driving past after all!

  • Interest registered here. The last trips I organised some time ago, we rented out villas at the nearby Sunparks which worked out cheap cheap self catering for everyone.

We stayed at the hotel fuchsrohre (likely spelt wrong) who is an excellent host and very good for Ring fans.   Nice PS3 setup there too for multiplayer

I would definitely be keen to do a trip in September time.

I would be up for September time, after the summer hols.

I could also be good for a September trip.

Phil

I could be up for this swmbo daughters money and dates depending (ecky thump not too many hurdles then!!!!!)

Will keep my eyes open for updates

Bloody hell, that's some understanding being able to use swmbo daughter's money. My mrs would make me fund it myself or use some commas.

I'd love to go to the 'Ring, but I watch too many TF accidents on YouTube and get very put off very quickly. You could be the best driver in the world but somebody with too much power and not enough experience could take you out.

Yeah if I went I'm not sure I would want to drive round myself. My car is hardly made for track with 105bhp! Lol.

I may want to ride as a passenger with someone and can of course film and contribute to the cost of the lap.

105bhp is plenty of power for the track i have alot of fun in mine at combe :)

I'd give you a run round ;) I've taken years off Ash's life already since she joined me at castle coomb ;)

Yeah I was thinking about it the other day and after watching a few videos of PD105 Golfs etc going round the ring it seems it is plenty of power. Combined with a DSG in manual or sport it would probably be quite fun. Would be interesting to see how the Bridgestones cope grip wise.

I would still probably spend most of my time over to the right letting all the fast cars past! lol

That would be cool. Was very impressed with the "get-up and go" your car had even with 4 adults... and after seeing that other video of a Fabia vRS on the ring narrowly avoiding a crash I'm convinced by the handling too!

Oh and poor Ash. lol

I just have to mention it to Sven now and see either a) he wants to go or B) i'm allowed to go if he doesn't

Just had a look at the dates on that site.

There aren't any dates for September. Are the only dates you can go the ones on the site?

I've also worked out the difference between doing Folkestone to Calais or Hull to Zeebrugge and to go from Hull it's £2 more roughly. I would be inclined to go via Hull as it's less driving time and more convenient.

Phil

The £2 extra wil be the best £2 you'll ever spend when you avoid the misery of the M6, M1,Dartford crossing , M25 ect. I would only take on such 'nasty' roads in the dead of the night!

Yup. Done it a few times and hate it!

Even doing it at night it's still a misery. I know it's overnight from Hull but it's very relaxing for me. Can work on the day I'm going, an hour down to hull, onto the ferry then wake up with a few hour drive through to Germany.

So if anyone else from the North wants to go that way.

I may be going with my Father as he has always wanted to go to Germany and he likes his cars.

I'd love to go Phil. Do find it a bit scary though but its something to cross off the list. Never driven on otherside of the road is it weird?

Hey you could rent a track ready Swift and see how it compares to yours?

Driving I the wrong side of the road is easy btw!

So is the general thought that September is the month of choice?

September is a rough time I would be keen to go.  Would need to check timings with the Castle Combe action day which is that month too though.

Forge Action Day is 13th September 2014.

Ok so September gives me an idea to save/plan for. I take it the same format as last time ( extra long weekend?) or during the week?

With Forge day 13th Sept, I suspect we should be aiming for the weekend of (kind of) 24/25/26/27/28 - the last two being the actual weekend, and the other days subject to change whatever.  It will all rely ultimately when they release the latter half of the year's opening times.

20/21 Sept looks likely candidate, unless push it a little further to 4/5 Oct.  Both those weekends are full days. :)  Actually looks like the 3 to 6 October are full tourist days,  Tempting!!

Were there any thoughts of tying this in with a trip to the Skoda Factory i.e. 20/21 Sep at the Ring and then onto the Czech Republic for a factory tour and then home?
