Headlight bulbs - what size are they?

Featured Replies

Hi,

what size is the headlitght bulb in the Fabia? normal beam not high beam.

i cant find it anywhere within the booklet with the car, it just tells you how to change it! anyone know where to find it for future refrence?

i think there H7's?

Wanting to order some night breaker bulbs today whilst at work, but i dont have the car with me to look + i dont wanna go dismantling it just to find out the size to put it back in!

thanks

They're H7s, I've got the same bulbs in mine now, took them out of my last car when I traded it in.

They're good bulbs but they didn't last long first time round.

I wrote to Osram and they sent me a new set with a set of matching sidelight bulbs, they seem to be lasting.

Thank you. :-)

You can try the Philips ones as well, they were getting great write ups and matched the Osrams in an Auto Express bulb test.

Ring do some as well, they might be cheaper but I don't think they got quite a high a score as the others.

I don't suppose anyone could give me a tip on how to remove the bulbs? According to the user manual, one removes the rubber caps and simply twists the black bulb holder to the left, but they don't seem to want to do that, and I don't want to break anything.

It's quite easy.

Remove the black plastic/rubber cap, it just pulls off then you'll see the wiring harness go into a black plug, twist the plug anti clockwise I think and the holder with the bulb attached should just pull out.

Don't touch the actual bulbs with bare hands as the grease and oil from the skin on your fingers can damage and react with the glass and cause blowouts where the filament fails.

Swap over the bulbs and refit in reverse, it took me about 10 mins max from star to finish, would be quicker now as I know how they're fitted.

Thanks. That's how it should go, but for some reason I am missing something, as the bulb doesn't seem to want to turn, and I do not want to force anything. I will have another look when I have half an hour to spare - enough time to minimise the likelihood of swear words and lost blood...

Just checked the manual which came with mine

Index is on page 208

Then looked for bulbs and saw page 186 in bold

All bulb types listed on pages 186 & 187, followed by instructions how to fit

i'll have a look for this, i found the bulb fitting instructions in the manual but nothing stating what bulb sizes were!

thanks

Have you thought about Phillips x-treme +100% bulbs?

Performance wise, the ones in jonro2009's post will be better and give a longer beam but if it's the HID Xenon look that GLENT54321 is after then the link in his post will give a brighter white light.

Just depends on what your after I suppose.

My Osrams still look whiter compared to the standard bulbs but not as white as Xenons.

I was about to ask people opinion in Jonro2009's post compared to the ones i was thinking of ordering!

You read my mind!! haha

im gunna stick to the original ones i chose, i like the idea of a slight blue tint and a brighter near xenon look!

thanks guys!

Anyone think its worth upgrading the main beam bulbs?

if so what size and any reccomendations for them

cheers

Be careful though, changing bulbs are a bit like Pringles, 'once you pop you can't stop'.

I, like a lot of others, have fitted LED bulbs to the DRLs as well as changing all the interior bulbs including the boot to LED, it makes the interior seem a nicer place especially when it's dark.

Haven't got round to fitting them anywhere else yet but may upgrade the indicator and rear light bulbs at some point.

There's only one bulb in the Monte headlights, the H7.

They use a shutter system for dipped and main beam that changes angle to give high or main beam when required.

Ain't that the truth! !

I'm going to put foot well lighting in my monte, and if I'm feeling brave I'm going to attempt some puddle lights.

I've used phillips silvatec bulbs for the indicators.....much better look.

Not got round to the rear lights yet, need to find the £22 for the bulbs I want.

You have a diffrent manual to me....so im not completely blind!

Page 208 takes me to letters: S, T, U, V

Page 186: talks about types of fuse

Page 187: Tells me the diffrent fuse sizes and location in fuse box.

My manual is dated: 05.2013 (back page bottom left corner 2nd line down)

Anyone advise better where the location of bulb sizes are in the new manual?

I don't want to state the obvious, but is there anything listed under 'B' in the index?

Ye, tried 'B' for bulbs and it refers me to the same pages as changing them. shows pictures of changing them but no information to what size they are throughout the car!
